A Jewish music group called the Maccabeats (pictured) has created a fun song that I've listened to about five times today.
They put Hanukkah-inspired lyrics, written by David Block and Immanuel Shalev, to Taio Cruz's infectious tune "Dynamite."

If you know anything about Hanukkah, and hey, even if you don’t, you’ll likely love what they did with their “Candlelight” song. :

“I flip my latkes in the air sometimes sayin’ ayy ohh spin the dreidel,

Just wanna celebrate for all eight nights singin’ ayy oh, light the candles.”

They are talented group of singers from Yeshiva University in New York who found a great way to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights. And they’ve found a great way to tell the story of Hanukkah in a way that resonates with today’s generation (and not so young folks like me).

Watch for yourself:

And get the lyrics so you can sing along here: www.maccabeats.com/lyrics

On Dec. 15, 1998, the Mayer Kaplin Jewish Community Center in Skokie, Ill., set the inaugural world’s record for largest number of dreidels to be spun at one time. At least 200 people were needed.

That’s one of the interesting tidbits of of information I found on Chabad Lubavitch’s special Hanukkah site. The site pays homage to all things Hanukkah, offering up educational and fun information about the Jewish Festival of Lights.

Since we are now in the midst of the eight-day festival, which began sundown Wednesday, I thought I might share some interesting websites that offer Hanukkah information.

Every year, I learn so much about about the Jewish holidays and this year is no exception.

Much of what I learn is through the many people in the Oklahoma City area Jewish community who have helped educate me on Jewish matters. The other way is through some sleuthing on websites.

Here are some of the sites I found interesting:

Chabad Lubavitch: Chanukah 2010

Holidays on the Net: Happy Chanukah

Judaism 101: Hanukkah
