To quote a good comedian (Steve Hughes) “You have the right to be offended.” And, “go ahead, be offended. Nothing happens!” GCB is a very funny show, I don’t actually look at it as, “My stereotypes of Christian women are true,” as some people in this article seem to imply, I just find it as a funny show. I would love to see it on the air, I’ve been to many churches and I have seen women who act like this. But I don’t go to church anymore, I feel like some people would try and say that the fact that I’m an Agnostic-Athiest that explains why I like it. But I don’t see why that even makes sense, I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.
I kind of remember a movie my mother showed me when I was in 5th grade, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, she was so excited that they had put it out on dvd, and she told me how Tim Curry couldn’t get a single job after that for a long time because his role was so controversal. I don’t see that happening to Kristin Chenoweth, I certainly hope it doesn’t happen. She only seems to offend a certain group of people, but it can spread to others.
I certainly hope GCB stays on the air, I mean, if you don’t like it you don’t have to watch it. It’s not like anyone is forcing you to, I do understand their side of the story, but at the same time I’d rather just put it aside and just continue enjoying a show I like because it’s funny. And, I do find it just plain awesome.

GCB depicts clearly (and hilariously) the hypocrisy that exists in most churches, to some extent. Our church has had 3 situations in which “good Christian ” women have engaged in dishonest, self-serving behavior that nearly destroyed us by causing a majority of members to leave. Even the last full-time minister lied, connived, and initiated things behind the backs of the ruling body. Eventually, she was fired and defrocked. By then, we had only about 35 active members left, so we are struggling to grow. These self-serving women are one of the reasons so many people today reject formal religion. Indeed, their behavior belies their claim to be Christian.

My husband and I love the show! We laugh so hard! We don’t take it literally or too personally. Just for the entertainment value of the way some people might act. I don’t know anyone like these woman personally. I think the only negative would be having it on Sunday night. Other than that, it’s nice to have a show to really laugh at!

As a Christian, I actually find the show funny and a good poke at what we do as Christian’s. Quit taking ourselves so seriously and realize that many people see us this way. Enjoy the laugh and make sure the reason you don’t like it is because it is too close to home.

Would you ever see a television show making fun of Muslim women? No, because it would cause riots. It seems to get more and more acceptable to make fun of Christians, and we can thank Hollywood for that.

I think it’s ridiculous to be offended by this show, I personally love it. When religious people take offense to shows/movies/books not meant to be taken seriously (I’m a practicing Christian and a ‘belle’ too), it completely undermines the religion and I wish people would realize that. It’s not the shows that undermine the religion: it’s the people that complain about them. I can’t even see what’s there to be offended by: they gossip, prank each other, and stab each other in the back. I don’t think there’s a single person out there that hasn’t done one of those things at one point or the other: Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or not. It’s human nature. Learn to laugh and live a little…maybe then the show will seem less scandalous.

The christian girls here in north carolina are skiping church to watch the show to become ‘better’,christian hypocrites.you cant shame the shameless.This show is a true reflection of churches and their hypocrit congregations in the south.This show couldnt possibly shed a bad light on christianity,self described christians already did that.They have no god,they traded him for politics and politicians.,and blame everyone else for the condition of my country and their church.They arent good americans or christians,just good hypocrites.enjoy the show sheepskins.

I wouldn’t watch it because of its vulgarity BUT…it hit the nail on the head. No worries, it doesn’t mock the real Christian women only the hypocrites from Christianity.
