As a very long-time Garner fan - Maverick, 1957! - I enjoyed this article very much.

I also enjoyed your letter, Diana. There is nothing more telling than comments from those who actually know a person, and everyone who does know Jim Garner says the same wonderful things.

Jim Garner has been my hero since 1957, and I'm feel very fortunate to have had one of the very few heroes in life that did not end up having feet of clay.

The world is a better place for having had James Garner in it for so many wonderful years.

My Dad went to school with Mr. Garner and his brother Jack and said the one thing he remembered most about Mr. Garner was that he would give anyone the shirt off his back if he thought they needed it. I met him in Norman when I was in the fifth grade and asked him "Do you remember my Dad?" When I told him who my Dad was he gave me a message to give him and was the nicest, most handsome man I had ever met (besides my Dad). My Dad was Robert L. Berry (Bobby) of Norman, played basketball for Norman High. Best of luck, Mr. Garner and thanks for all the years of your work!
