A few hours before Gov. Mary Falin speaks at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, a Republican polling firm in Oklahoma City reports that she has a favorable rating in Oklahoma of 65 percent and is popular among numerous different segments.
The poll, taken earlier this month by Cole, Hargrave, Snodgrass and Associates, shows Fallin is viewed favorably by:
65 percent of all polled;
66 percent of men;
62 percent of women;
52 percent of Democrats (33 percent of Democrats view her unfavorably).…

Oklahoma delegates to the Republican National Convention held their first communal breakfast Monday morning at their Tampa hotel and heard from three members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation and the political director for the national party.
Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, who had two Oklahoma radio interviews scheduled during the breakfast, elicited some live cheers from the assembled delegates for the Oklahoma City and Tulsa radio audiences.
Reps. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, and Frank Lucas, R-Cheyenne, also spoke, giving preach-to-the-choir remarks about the Obama administration.…

Republican officials had to reshuffle the schedule of the GOP’s national convention in Tampa this week after scratching Monday’s program because of approaching Tropical Storm Isaac. Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, who was asked to speak on Monday, is not on the new schedule released Sunday evening by the convention.
But Cornett’s chief of staff, Steve Hill, said Sunday night that Cornett is scheduled to speak at 3:15 p.m. central time Tuesday. Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Matt Pinnell confirmed that later Sunday.…

National Republican Party officials announced Saturday that Monday’s convention activities in Tampa will be scratched because of worries of approaching tropical storm Isaac.
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett was supposed to speak on Monday. It appears likely that speech will have to be scratched. Cornett said Saturday evening that he had not heard from convention officials yet. He was planning to leave for Tampa on Sunday.
Gov. Mary Fallin is scheduled to speak on Tuesday night, but it’s unclear if the convention will be able to stick to that agenda if all of Monday’s events are scratched.…
