Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett just delivered a short speech to the GOP convention in Tampa, FL. He looked first for the Oklahoma delegates, and found a few in their section way in the back of the hall.

GOP Delegates Hear From Elected Officials, National Political Director
Oklahoma delegates to the Republican National Convention held their first communal breakfast Monday morning at their Tampa hotel and heard from three members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation and the political director for the national party.
Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, who had two Oklahoma radio interviews scheduled during the breakfast, elicited some live cheers from the assembled delegates for the Oklahoma City and Tulsa radio audiences.
Reps. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, and Frank Lucas, R-Cheyenne, also spoke, giving preach-to-the-choir remarks about the Obama administration.…

Republicans Cancelling Monday Convention Events, May Mean OKC Mayor Scratched
National Republican Party officials announced Saturday that Monday’s convention activities in Tampa will be scratched because of worries of approaching tropical storm Isaac.
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett was supposed to speak on Monday. It appears likely that speech will have to be scratched. Cornett said Saturday evening that he had not heard from convention officials yet. He was planning to leave for Tampa on Sunday.
Gov. Mary Fallin is scheduled to speak on Tuesday night, but it’s unclear if the convention will be able to stick to that agenda if all of Monday’s events are scratched.…

Gov. Mary Fallin to Speak in Prime Time Tuesday at Republican National Convention
Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has been given a speaking slot on Tuesday at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL.
In a message sent from her campaign account, the governor said she will talk about Oklahoma’s success.
“My message will be simple: the U.S. must focus on policies that allow hardworking families and businesses _ not government bureaucracies _ to thrive.
“In Oklahoma, we’ve pursued policies that set the stage for success and job growth in the private sector. We’re not interested in more government handouts.…

Oklahoma GOP Gets $5 Million from Romney Fundraising Committee
A joint fundraising committee for Republican Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign transferred nearly $5 million to the Oklahoma Republican Party’s account on July 31, according to a report filed by the state party on Monday with the Federal Election Commission.
The $4.99 million came from donors around the country. The contributions were divided up among four state Republican Party organizations and other GOP committees.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks the flow of campaign money, joint fundraising committees have been formed by both presidential campaigns and political parties to allow people who have donated the legal limit directly to the candidates to give more money.…
