Sen. Tom Coburn to Have Dinner with President Barack Obama on Wednesday

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, is among the Republican senators invited to have dinner with President Barack Obama at a Washington hotel, Coburn’s press secretary said.
The president has been reaching out to GOP senators this week to talk about a major deficit reduction deal. Coburn was among those called by the president.

The House last week gave final legislative approval to the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, which focuses federal resources to fight assaults against women and to help victims of those assaults. There’s a White House fact sheet here.

Rep. Frank Lucas Targeted by Club for Growth for “Low” Lifetime Rating, Called Liberal

Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Cheyenne, has a lifetime rating from the free-market conservative group Club for Growth of nearly 70 percent. But it’s not 70 percent; it’s 68 percent.
