Norman city election is Tuesday. Polls open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m.

Norman residents should plan on going to the polls Tuesday to vote on two bond propositions, a mayor’s race and in some areas of the city, a ward race.

Voters are being asked to approve a $19 million general obligation bond issue to pay for street repairs and reconstruction of some streets. The proposition replaces one that has expired and will not result in a tax increase. Also on the ballot is a $2.25 million general obligation bond issue to fund new outdoor storm warning sirens and upgrade some of the old ones. This proposition will raise taxes slightly. According to the city’s finance director, Anthony Francisco, it will cost someone who owns a $100,000 home about 60 cents a month. Voters also will cast ballots in a mayor’s race. Mayor Cindy Rosenthal is seeking a second three-year term. Hal Ezzell, a Ward 3 representative, is challenging her. Voters in Wards 4, 6 and 8 also will cast ballots for a representative. John Dawson, incumbent Carol Dillingham and Austin Dyches are viying for the Ward 4 seat. Incumbent Jim Griffith is being challenged by Matt Zellner for the Ward 6 seat. Candidates Stephen Lucas and Leonard Youngblood are running against incumbent Dan Quinn in Ward 8. Polls open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m.
