National Republican Party officials announced Saturday that Monday’s convention activities in Tampa will be scratched because of worries of approaching tropical storm Isaac.
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett was supposed to speak on Monday. It appears likely that speech will have to be scratched. Cornett said Saturday evening that he had not heard from convention officials yet. He was planning to leave for Tampa on Sunday.
Gov. Mary Fallin is scheduled to speak on Tuesday night, but it’s unclear if the convention will be able to stick to that agenda if all of Monday’s events are scratched.
