State Rep. George Faught files for Congressional District 2
Oklahoma Rep. George Faught, R-Muskogee, filed late Wednesday afternoon for U.S. House of Representatives District 2.
Faught is the fifth Republican and seventh candidate to file for the seat in eastern Oklahoma that is being left vacant by U.S. Rep. Dan Boren who is not seeking re-election.
Faught said remaining in state government would have been the easy route, but there are things at the federal level that need to be changed.
He said Oklahoma needs to tap into its natural resources to help the energy sector grow and promote job growth.
Next, Faught said the healthcare bill needs to be tackled.
“Regardless of what the Supreme Court does, we’ve got to dismantle it,” Faught said.
Three candidates have filed so far for Faught’s state House seat District 14. He said he has worked with and encouraged Arthur Hulbert, the only Republican in that race so far, to seek the seat.
