Brittany,

States already have the tools to regulate fracing, they've been doing it for 60 years. Evidenced by not one proven case of drinking water contamination by hydrualic fracturing.

Every oil well ever drilled, has had to pass through the water aquifers. We have been protecting the water aquifers in Oklahoma for as long as they've drilled for oil here.

And could you please direct me to the editorial board's admission that " all the data is not in " ?

I think you mean that all the political data is not in, and we must wait to see hydraulic fracturing properly politicized.

Dear Mr. Casteel,

While I understand and share your concern for Oklahoma's energy companies, we have to understand that compromise must be part of the solution. Is it really so bad to ensure that states have the tools to ensure safe drinking water and soil for their citizens? We should be seeking common ground on what those regulations should look like, rather than pretending that we have all the knowledge to guarantee that hydraulic fracturing is safe. Even this paper's editorial board admitted this week that the data is not all in.
