Blizzard causes reporter to miss a first at Oklahoma City Council
Today’s blizzard canceled the Oklahoma City Council meeting today. In fact, it closed most city offices today and will do the same again Wednesday.
The city just released this information about today and Wednesday:
“All public meetings have been canceled.
Citizens whose normal trash collection was today should set their Big Blue carts and recycling bins on the curb by 6 a.m. Saturday, February 5. (crews don’t collect trash on Wednesdays, so tomorrow’s closure won’t impact customers)
The closing also affects Recreation Centers, METRO Transit, Municipal Court and Utilities Customer Service.”
The snow drifts are just too big

I’m a bit bummed by Tuesday’s council meeting being canceled.
It was to be my first city council meeting on my new beat. Former city government beat reporter Bryan Dean said it’s the only one he can remember being canceled by weather in the eight years he covered the beat.
At the council meeting coming up next week, the city will combine the missed agenda with the current meeting agenda.
I’ll get two for one at my first meeting.
