Tom Cole Named to House GOP Transition Team

U.S. Rep. Tom Cole, R-Moore, was named today to the House Republican team that will work on the next majority’s rules and priorities.
The announcement was made by Rep. Greg Walden, the Oregon Republican who is heading up the transition. Republicans last week won more than 60 seats, enough to give them the majority when the new Congress begins in January.
In his eight years in Congress, Cole has served as a member of the Republican leadership team and on key committees like Rules and the Ethics committee.…

Oklahoma political vet Randy Swanson to head James Lankford team

Randy Swanson, who has been involved in Oklahoma Republican politics for decades, will be chief of staff for James Lankford, the newly elected Republican in the congressional district that includes Oklahoma City.
Swanson worked on GOP campaigns before handling press duties in the mid-1990s for U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas.
He most recently worked for the Oklahoma State Senate as the director of communications for the Republican leader. He also worked for J.C. Watts when Watts was on the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.…

Sen. Jim Inhofe statement on Fort Hood shooting anniversary

Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, released this statement today in observance of the first anniversary of the Fort Hood shooting, in which Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, allegedly killed 13 people.

Dan Boren wants Nancy Pelosi replaced

U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, D-Muskogee, joined a growing chorus of conservative Democrats who want a new leader in the House in the wake of the party’s devastating losses in the House. Some conservative Democrats who survived on Tuesday have been quoted publicly as saying that they don’t want Speaker Nancy Pelosi, of California, to be the House minority leader next year. Boren agrees.
He released this statement this morning:

GOP presidential hopefuls set up state PACs in Oklahoma

Sure, it’s two years away, but it’s never too early to set up political action committees if you’re considering a run for president. So far, three potential Republican candidates have started Oklahoma PACs that are tied to the national ones they’ve already established at the Federal Elections Commission. The state PACs allow them to donate to various candidates or issues in Oklahoma.

A look through the registered PACs at the Oklahoma Ethics Commission website shows that former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (who came in second in the state’s presidential primary vote in 2008) set up his Oklahoma PAC earlier this year.…

Billy Coyle puts money into his campaign against James Lankford

Democrat Billy Coyle, put $30,000 of his own money into his congressional campaign last week as he worked on a final push against Republican James Lankford in the 5th District congressional race.
Coyle, an Oklahoma City attorney, has steadfastly maintained that he’s going to win the contest to replace Mary Fallin in Congress. He’s got history against him since the district has been represented by Republicans since 1975, and he’s running in a year that is expected to be very favorable to GOP candidates.…
