Calvey Edged Lankford in Oklahoma County
Republican Kevin Calvey beat James Lankford in the biggest part of the 5th congressional district last month, Oklahoma County, getting 17,024 votes to Lankford’s 16,803, according to state election board figures. Mike Thompson got 9,639 votes and has endorsed Lankford.
Lankford beat Calvey in Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties by healthy margins and finished just ahead of him overall in the primary. The two will meet again in the Aug. 24 runoff.
On the Democratic side, Billy Coyle beat Tom Guild in all three counties in that two-way race. Coyle topped Guild in Oklahoma County by a vote of 16,551 to 12,547.
