Abortion reporting bill becomes law, bill includes questions
With only one Republican vote, the Senate voted in favor of overriding the governor’s veto of House Bill 3284 today. The bill requires doctors to glean personal information from women seeking an abortion and submit it to the state. Below is text from the bill that includes some of the information that doctors will glean from patients. The reporting would begin April 1, 2012.
The bill’s author, Sen. Clark Jolley, R-Edmond, says “Data is pure,” and policy makers want to understand why women are seeking to end their pregnancies.
Gov. Brad Henry vetoed the bill on May 22 saying it was an invasion to privacy and a barrier to legal medical treatment.

The veto was overturned by ONE male, Republican vote. SO now Oklahoma women get to have their privacy invaded while simultaneously being shamed. This is nothing but a Republican ploy to drive up the costs of abortions, thus punishing poor women by making it even harder for them to get them. “Too poor to have a child? Father absent? Too bad! No choices for YOU except those WE make for you! Oh, and forget about getting state help to pay for the care of the child! You’re on your own! Have a nice day!”
This bill is unconstitutional! We will be paying our taxes to overcome this unfair bill. More wasted money due to their misguided religious values being forced on others.
this is just HORRIBLE? I am ashamed these hateful leaders. They should all be ashamed of themselves!
