Reasons to shop in Edmond

City and Edmond Economic Development Authority officials are continuing to campaign for people to shop in Edmond.

The biggest reason for this push is the economic downturn has decreased the amount of  sales tax money available to run city government and its services.

The number one reason to spend money in Edmond is because the sales tax is 7.75 percent, less than most surrounding areas.

Other reasons are:

Shopping in Edmond supports local merchants who contribute to local fundraising and pay property taxes that help fund public schools.

Edmond is a safe place to live. Sales tax supports local police and fire departments.

Sales tax supports the parks, trails, recreations programs and venues like Festival Market Place and the amphitheater at J.L. Mitch Park.

There are a variety of retail and service stores, speciality shops, gift stores, boutiques, art galleries and antiques so people can find what they are looking for in Edmond.

Shopping in Edmond maintains its uniqueness. Edmond has dozens of businesses that have been part of the community for years and contributed to the city’s special culture and character.
