I know Jeff Rabon personally and he is a good man. Good people have been known to make mistakes, and Jeff simply made a mistake. Thankfully, he was not driving and no one was hurt. He obviously has a problem, and I don’t think it should be front page news.

Partisan politics and personal opinions aside — He is a man (and a good one) struggling with a powerful addiction. If you find this amusing, you’re one of the fortunate few whose lives have not (yet) been touched by this tragedy. He needs prayers, not humiliation. Rest assured, he is paying dearly.

He should have been prosecuted in Choctaw county on a felony charge, but the local district attorney did him a public official favor. I’m not surprised that we voted him back in office twice before the term limits finally got him.

I live afew miles from Hugo where Rabon is from and here alot of people drink and drive..my family was hit by a drunk driver doing 106mph in 2002 and we are still in bad shape from it..oh, she got off and still is drinking and driving….where is the justice for those innocent ones??My daughter was 4 years old then and still has problems..no big settlement either..we pay for our on-going medical bills…to live here in the same town SHE lives in and know she still drinks and drives…..it is very sad….

They can just take these guys to the public inebriate alternative at Walnut and The Walnut Bridge but he must have peeved off the watch commander. These cases as usually not worth the paperwork and trouble.

C’mon, this is gratuitous. Jeff is a private citizen now. Clearly he has a serious problem. I can see a snippet of an article, but do we really need to plaster his face and story on page 1 of newsok? Compassion can be a part of using your journalistic discretion.

BIG DEAL this guy made a mistake, he’s a former gov off and its a huge story. not to say dui isnt serious but these offenses happen quite often in the world today. let him move thru the legal system just like the rest of us. GOD BLESS
