Coburn on Meet the Press

U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, a Republican who has been holding town hall meetings in Oklahoma this week, will appear on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday morning. Coburn has offered his own comprehensive health care plan that would subject employees’ contributions to their health care plans to taxes and give everyone a tax credit to buy insurance. His plan would also get rid of the part of Medicaid that provides health insurance for the poor and instead offer subsidies for low-income people to purchase private health insurance.

Anyone who is afraid of the word socialized doesn’t realize that we already have socialized Fire and Rescue, Police, and Education to the 12 grade, in this country. Why not socialize medicine as well, and while you’re at it socialize education at the college level also. That way all Americans would be on level playing field, no one would have fewer advantages than anyone else. A lot of people are narrow minded and think that somehow the government is going to pick their pockets; I agree government is too big. Our government is suppose to 2 things only, keep us safe and keep us informed, that is it, that’s how it was set up to begin with. Step back and take a look at politics in this country, greed motivates politicians these days, not ideals. Too many people think that they work harder than anyone else, there for everyone else is either stupid or a dead beat. People should work to better themselves, not to feel superior. President Obama’s’ plan, has the right idea so does Senator Coburn’s’ plan, neither is perfect, but they are a start in the right direction. Politicians should be humanitarians not war mongering thieves.

Why did Tom Coburn justify the “motivations” of Timothy McVeigh on Meet the Press this morning? The citizens of OK should be ashamed to have elected him.

Mac- I totally agree… great response!
