Rose Day at the state Capitol

Rose day

State Rep. Ken Miller, R-Edmond, accepts roses today from Cale Curtain,  Courtney Pollock and Liz Kleehammer, students from Oklahoma Christian School in Edmond. The students , members of the school’s Rose Day committee, delivered the roses to Miller’s office at the state Capitol. Each year, hundreds gather at the Capitol at the beginning of the legislative session to promote and support the lives of unborn babies by meeting with their state senators and representatives and presenting them with red roses, which represent the sanctity of the unborn.

This is great, but I wonder how many of these legislators who vote pro-life when it comes to protecting the unborn voted in favor of tabling the Austism bill that would protect some of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable, youngest citizens living outside the womb?

“red roses, which represent the sanctity of the unborn.”

What, just because they say so? Red roses represent passion, according to tradition – and no, not a “passion for saving the unborn.” This is, you know, that other kind of passion. The one that sometimes leads to unplanned pregnancies. Baby’s breath or gardenia would be far more appropriate.

Rose Day
A day to celebrate the right to birth. There is unfortunately in this state or this nation there is no right to life. Once a child is born, it is “hands Off” for the “right to lifers”. The issue of child abuse, child neglect and death matter not at all. It is a sad day because we offer no protection for the born when people will fight to the death for the rights of the unborn.
