A lot of conservative Republicans opposed to the financial rescue plan have warned that bailing out the banks was a step toward socialism. In fact, Sen. Jim DeMint, R-SC, said in debate on Wednesday night that the government was “leading our country into the pit of socialism.”
So what did the Senate’s sole Socialist have to say? Turns out, he’s against it, too.
Meanwhile, Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, was totally in harmony with DeMint, but Coburn voted for it. He vented first, though.
