Senate Voting Tonight
The Senate is now scheduled to vote tonight on the financial rescue plan. A copy of the bill can be found here.
It’s not clear yet how Sens. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, and Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, will vote. Coburn has been steadfastly urging that some action be taken, warning of the consequences if the financial markets aren’t stabilized. His latest statement on the crisis can be seen here.
Inhofe came out early against the original Bush administration plan but hasn’t given a definitive statement in the last few days.
The vote will likely come sometime around 8 p.m. central time, though this is the Senate we’re talking about, and I learned long ago not to bet on anything happening there at a time certain.
Meantime, you can watch a video interview with Rep. Tom Cole, R-Norman, about the situation.
