History made at History Center

The Oklahoma History Center made some history itself last weekend. It set a one-day attendance record.

About 5,000 people Saturday toured the center, just east of the Capitol.

The previous one-day attendance mark was 2,000, said Bob Blackburn, executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society.

To give the attendance mark some perspective, about 10,000 people visited the old history museum a year, Blackburn said. The artifacts and exhibits moved from the museum to the center about two years ago.

Boren Backing Bush (Sometimes)

President Bush is suffering from the lowest legislative support for a president in 50 years, but Rep. Dan Boren has been his top Democratic backer in the House, according to a report by Congressional Quarterly.

CQ Today published an analysis today showing that Bush has prevailed in the House on only 14 percent of the 76 votes on which he took a clear position in 2007.

That is the lowest percentage of victories since CQ began analyzing presidential success ratings …
