Three photographers and thousands of Thunder pictures

The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday at the OKC Arena. They’ll advance to the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Three photographers covered game 7 for the Oklahoman. Using remotes, hand held cameras and one photographer roaming the OKC Arena for pictures of fans reacting to the game, we took a total of 8,916 pictures. Then we spent several hours sorting through the images that we use to tell the story of the game.

I looked through Merlin this morning for pictures from around the United States and the world. There’s been plenty happening since May 1, including Osama Bin Laden’s death, tornadoes and storms in the South and fighting continues in Libya.

The Thunder tied up their playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night with a win at the OKC Arena. Staff Photographers Chris Landsberger and Bryan Terry turned in 82 pictures from last night’s game and the pre-game festivities outside the arena. Including remote cameras on the floor and attached to the post, Chris and Bryan used a total of 9 camera bodies to cover game two.
Since the playoffs started a few weeks ago against the Denver Nuggets, we’ve turned 437 pictures into our archive system, called Merlin. Since the Thunder name was officially revealed during a press conference on Sept. 3, 2008, we’ve turned in 5,349 pictures with the word Thunder in the cutline.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will play game 5 against the Denver Nuggets tonight at the OKC Arena. If they win tonight’s game, the Thunder will advance to the next round and face either the San Antonio Spurs or the Memphis Grizzlies. In the last 10 days or so, Staff Photographers at The Oklahoman have turned in some nice pictures, not all of which have gotten published in the newspaper. Here’s a few pictures that deserve a second look.
We’ve turned in plenty of photo galleries, that you can see by clicking here, including galleries from the start of the NBA playoffs in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State’s win during the Bedlam baseball series and the Southwest Street Rod Nationals.
