A Visual Comparison
This weekend the photo staff covered a number of sporting events. I photographed two of them. As I was editing my pictures from the Winstar Casino Invitational PBR tour stop, I kept thinking back to photos from the Perfect 10 Challenge gymnastics event that I covered the night before. Below are some of the similarities I noticed between gymnastics and bull riding.

Left, Oklahoma's Sara Stone competes on the beam during the Perfect 10 Challenge. Right, Justin Koon flies off Sam during the Winstar World Casino Invitational PBR tour

Left, Oklahoma's Madison Mooring puts chalk on her feet before competing on the beam during the Perfect 10 Challenge. Right, Flames pour out of a prop bull's head during the introductions of the Winstar World Casino Invitational PBR tour.

Left, Oklahoma's Rebecca Clark competes on the vault during the Perfect 10 Challenge. Right, Austin Meier flies off Mulligan Man during the Winstar World Casino Invitational PBR tour.

Competitors stand during the national anthem before the Winstar World Casino Invitational PBR tour and the Perfect 10 Challenge.

Running his first race

The grin on Ugur Yumuk’s face needs no translation. After crawling through childhood in Turkey, along with six years of ill-fitting prosthetic legs, the accomplished swimmer and powerlifting hopeful was able to run for the first time when he came to Oklahoma and received special prosthetics.
I met up with the Turkish-born athlete a few times to follow him through training and running the first race of his life at the Endeavor Games.

March of 1,000 Flaming Skeletons
During the fall I spend most Saturdays at a football stadium. Last Saturday, however, I spent the evening covering the March of 1,000 Flaming Skeletons at the Ghouls Gone Wild Halloween Parade in downtown Oklahoma City. I interviewed Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and put together an audio slideshow with some pictures from the parade.

Carnival workers at the Oklahoma State Fair
Every year that I cover the Oklahoma State Fair, the carnival workers want me to take their photograph. This year I decided to do just that. I interviewed some of the workers and put together an audio slideshow with the pictures from the fair.
To see it click here.
Here are a few photos from the slideshow.
