Remember when all the jokes were made about Dick Cheney shooting pheasants in a pen and calling it hunting? This is the equivalent for these buffalo. They are sold to “game ranches” and are hunted and shot within a fenced enclosure. The so called hunters are guaranteed a kill. What a pitiful end for one of our national treasures. If the herds were managed with more modern contraception methods, these culls would not be necessary. But of course contraception is a dirty word in red state Oklahoma, no matter who it’s applied to so it’s doubtful that more humane methods of population control will ever be implemented for these majestic animals.
