Tripp Hall was host in Norman for a meeting to introduce women to the University of Oklahoma Women’s Philanthropy Network. There were also luncheons in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

Hall emphasized that the events were scheduled to celebrate and promote philanthropic education, leadership and advocacy by empowering women to be active participants in the giving process.  OU wants to engage more women in University life.

Hall, Jill Hughes, Les Risser and former student Vice President Tatianna Cannon spoke to the guests.  They asked the group to be network advocates, refer friends, host other events and share stories of personal philanthropy.

Among guests in Norman were  Anona Adair, Catherine Bishop, Carol Burr, Julia Chew, Jenny Dakil, Judi Freyer, Nanette Hathaway, Judy Hatfield, Becky Heeney, Donna Hughes, Cindy Johnson, Nancy Mergler, Kathy Switzer Miller, Ann Nuttle, Chris Purcell, Lindy Ritz, Kate Stanton, Emily Stratton and Nancy Yoch.

NEW GROUP FORMED

University of Oklahoma Vice President Tripp Hall invited a group of women to a luncheon at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club to introduce OU’s new Women’s Philanthropy Network.
The group’s mission is to promote philanthropic education, leadership and advocacy and to suggest that women become active participants in the giving process.

Hall, Jill Hughes and Les Risser were speakers and they asked the group to be advocates for WPN and to refer friends and contacts who might want to attend upcoming events.
Among the guests were Liz Coe, Jane Harlow,  Sue Ann Hyde, Linda Rodgers, Suzie Symcox, Candy Dulaney, Lori Hill, Dr. Jenny Hendrick,  Cynda Ottoway, Barbara Thompson, Maria Abbott, Tatianna Cannon, Corey Hyde Blake, Caroline Patton, Laura Gray, Pattye Moore, Linda Haneborg and Sharon Alexander.
Other introductory luncheons will be in  Tulsa and Norman.

Party-goers enjoyed the early morning breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. It was the 2008 President’s Associates annual Beat Texas Celebration. They left by chartered bus and police escort at 8:30 a.m.

Red and white balloons decorated the room where most everyone wore red and white. Clarke Stroud announced notable guests as they arrived at the party. An OU sales table was set up with more red and white attire  if needed.

A POST GAME PARTY

Dee Dee and Jon Stuart invited friends to the Jade Room of the Hilton Anatole Hotel following the University of Oklahoma-University of Texas football game which was, unfortunately, won by UT.

Jon Stuart is Board of Regents Chairman and the party followed the arrival of the buses back to the Hotel.

The room was decorated in red and white roses and since it was Stuart’s wife’s birthday, a birthday cake was on the menu.

Breast Cancer Fund-Raiser Set—Parties Extra!—October 12, 2008

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, members of the University of Oklahoma Breast Institute board will have a party October 16 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Balliet’s, 50 Penn Place. Lori Hill is OUBI board chairman.

Lots of fall accessories will be shown and wine champagne and appetizers will be served.  There will be special drawings and music.  Tickets are $25. Committee members for the fund raiser are Lil Ross, Charlotte Richels, DeDe Benham and Hill.

Members of the OUBI community advisory board are Kelly Dyer Fry, Jane Austin, DeDe Benham, Nancy Yoch, Martha Williams, Beverly Binkowski, Libby Blankenship, Becky Buchanan, Kathy Williams, Lil Ross, Charlotte Richels, Berta Faye Rex, Elizabeth Coe, Karen Delaney, Kris Frankfurt and Joan Frates.

Parties Extra!—October 7, 2008—OU Panhellenic Association plans to celebrate 100 years

 PLANNING TO CELEBRATE

University of Oklahoma Panhellenic Centennial Chairman Claire Turmelle had her first planning meeting for OU’s Panhellenic Association’s 100th anniversary.  Kate Stanton was hostess for the event in Norman.

On the committee are representatives from many of the campus sorority houses. They are Stanton, Claire Turmelle, Johnna Austin, Jill Duty, Alissa Myers, Becky Barker, Chris Purcell, Erin Simpson, Helen Woodward, Kari Jacobson and Robin Allen.
The Centennial Celebration will be held April 2009 in conjunction with “Queen for a Weekend”, which is when the National Panhellenic Council delegates and National presidents of OU’s 11 sorority chapters will visit the campus. Tentative date is April 17-19. Ideas from the planning meeting included tree plantings, progressive dinners at the sorority houses, alumni brunch and a fashion show from the decades. The Friday reception for the visitors will be in the stadium suites.

NEW OU SCHOLARSHIP

Celebrating the fund-raising success of the first annual Joe L. Love Memorial Golf Tournament are left, Craig Johnston, Michael Love, Jay Johnston, Robert Love and Doug Johnston.

The Love family and Janet and John Hudson endowed a scholarship in Joe’s memory in the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business.

At the reception a $200,000. check was given to Judi Freyer, representing OU. The money will endow four scholarships in the College’s Entrepreneurship Center. The $100,000. that was raised from the golf tournament will also go to the College.
