The 6th annual Pirate Party Open House was given by Mary Ellen Meredith and Samonia Lee Meredith after Christmas in their home. Some of the guests came dressed in pirate’s attire. The invitation stated “Costumes requested, not required.”

The theme for the party came about years ago when Samonia gave her mother Mary Ellen a globe bar and candlesticks for her home and the mom thought it made her house look like that of a retired pirate.

About that time they were also talking about bringing back their family ( parents Betty and Tom Milam always had an open house between Christmas and New Years) party. So, they got together and planned the afternoon event from 2 until 5 p.m.

They served two kinds of punch (leaded and unleaded) and the food was catered by Will Rogers Theater Catering, including some pirate- decorated cupcakes. Decorations were pirate’s flags and the holiday decorations such as santas and snowmen wore black pirate’s eye patches.

The Rumfellows Band, Norman, Ok., played some shipboard songs.

Among the people at the party were Sherry Sullivan, Blue Clark, Kathy and Russ Walker, Judy and Bill Phillips, Lou Kerr, Barbara and John Nichols, Norm Levine, Troy Scott, Lily Ruttan, David Campbell, Joe Dorman, Jack Baker, Cara Cowan-Watts, Elizabeth Zoernig Milam and Leslie Blair.
