Ladies Golf Association members at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club had the annual spring luncheon. Tables were decorated with bouquets of pink, orange and yellow tulips.
New officers include Sara Northwood, president; Michelle Ellis, vice-president; Becky Denny, secretary/treasurer; Pam Shdeed, sports chairman; Bette MacKellar, interclub; Linda Rodgers, Jane Austin and Allie Duncan, tournament committee; Helen Sullivan, Jill Brown, Susan Edwards and Kay Bass, mixed foursomes, and Shirley Everest, past president.
Head golf professional Tim Fleming showed the women the new spring golf attire, golf bags and shoes.
The Ladies Spring Scramble was April 6, and the Handicap Tournament is set for April 13.

Party favors for the party were toy rabbits.
Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club members and children and grandchildren were at the traditional Easter egg hunt where there were categories for all age groups. Juice and cookies were served prior to the hunt and afterwards there was a breakfast.
There was also a petting zoo, face painting, cookie and egg decorating, cotton candy and balloon designer areas.
Family members Ron White, Melissa Brown, Addie Brown, Lynn White with Chase Brown, and Avery and Mike Brown were at the party.
Bob Benham, Avery Shinn and Dede Benham are ready for the big egg hunt. After looking over the scene with help from her grandparents, Bob and Dede, Avery decided she was “too shy” to make the run.

Children’s Christmas party features Mr. and Mrs. Claus

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus were at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club for the children’s Christmas party. Also there were face painters and member’s children dressed in holiday attire. There was a photo booth where children wore santa hats and reindeer ears for pictures. There was a movie and cookie decorating for the 200 children.
Milk, hot chocolate and cookies were served and after the party, there was a Christmas breakfast buffet.

The Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club’s gigantic Norway spruce Christmas tree is in the Great Hall of the Club. Members celebrated at the annual Tree Lighting party where thousands of holiday lights illuminated the tree.
The Canterbury Youth Chorus sang holiday songs. Guests at the party also sang Christmas carols by candlelight.
Cookies, eggnog and Tom and Jerry drinks were served. There was also a buffet dinner following the tree lighting.
Debutantes and escorts will be introduced at the 2009 Beaux Arts Ball

Amy Grant sings at Oklahoma City Kappa Alpha Theta Flaming Festival

Kappa Alpha Theta alum ( at Vanderbilt University) Amy Grant entertained at lunch at the Theta Flaming Festival at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. She sang some new songs and old favorites to the 400- plus crowd.
She was gracious in her remarks in acknowledging the 50-year-Thetas and also in helping promote the purchase of the centerpieces which also included an Amy Grant Christmas compact disc. She talked about her family members including her mother-in-law and sister-in-law who were in the audience.
It was the 53rd annual Flaming Festival and there were 35 festively -decorated and themed tables by Theta alumnae and area merchants. Themes ranged from “Birthday Party for our Granddaughters” by Cathy Cross, Ann Fleming and Janie Cook to “Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom Luncheon” by Barb Munneke and Cherry Kay Clifford.
Home-baked cookies were served at a table with former past alumni presidents pouring the tea and coffee. (This lovely tea table is traditional ). The Thetas also had a major bake sale with such items as cakes, cookies and fudge sauce and barbecue sauce for sale.
Co-chairmen of the 2009 Flaming Festival were Susie Kemp and Johnna Schick. President of the local Theta alumnae chapter is Kim Joseph.
Proceeds go to Food 4 Kids and CASA of Oklahoma County.

Members of the Lotus Club met at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club for the fall dinner and dance. Cocktails were served upstairs at the Club.
Everyone enjoyed the gourmet dinner and President Tom King introduced guests and new members.

Seventy Five Club members had the fall dance at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. Larry Ottaway is president of the group.

Willie Nelson sings in Oklahoma City in honor of Gene Rainbolt’s birthday

The Oklahoma City Golf and Country was the setting for Gene Rainbolt’s birthday. Guests wore pins with Willie and Gene’s picture and the saying “My Heroes Have Always Been Bankers.”
The event on Friday, September 18th, featured barbecue and beer and guests’ donations benefited cancer research at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the University of Oklahoma Cancer Institute.
Dinner included brisket, ribs, chicken served with Texas toast, barbecue baked beans, potato salad and hot apple and peach cobbler with ice cream.This was served under a tent on the back terrace of the Country Club.
Willie Nelson entertained everyone for over an hour singing such songs as “Whiskey River,” ” Georgia,” ” Always On My Mind.” He flung his cowboy hat to the crowd and opted out for a red bandana.
The OCG&CC was set up theater style in the ballroom with some tall cocktail tables in the back. Everyone was in a party mood as the dress code was “casual.” Wearing glittery cowboy hats were Brenda McDaniel, Judy Love and Ann Hargis (hers was orange). Susan Edwards had on cowboy boots and the honoree had on a suede vest and a silver bolo tie.
