New group, M.O.B., meets to organize

 The “Making Oklahoma City Beautiful”, (M.O.B.) group met at Chelino’s in Bricktown.

It was the first meeting of 110 young professionals, 22-35 years old, who plan to work to improve the appearance of Oklahoma City. They will implement projects as part of Oklahoma City Beautiful.

Lisa Synar is director of OKC Beautiful. Juliann Strange is communications director for OKC Beautiful and was in charge of the party.

At the party were Sonny Wilkerson, Lesley Hayes, Julie and Heath Hornbeek, Megan Hornbeek, Aiden Street, Katylee Strange, Amanda Essaili, Lauren Quick, Chris Beal, Scott Moehlenbrock, Colin Strickland, Bryce and Kristin Thompson.

 

They will have several events  including pine tree removal day, litter blitz, stop graffiti in parks, pansy plantings, happy hours, pizza and beer series and working with the Boys and Girls Club.

The Oklahoma City Beautiful Mayors Golf Tournament was at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club and a reception was held afterwards.

Among the players were Bill Rodgers, Ron Bradshaw, Ike Bennett, Bill Bell, Ron Norick and Tim O’Toole, David Stanley,  Joe Womack,  David Harlow, Homer Paul, Doug Fuller, John, Paul and Jimmie Austin, Dick Workman, Lee Bollinger.

The team from Rococ0′s Restaurant  had matching  red golf shirts. McAfee and Taft Law Firm sponsored the party.

During the golf tournament Mick Cornett and Jim Norick had their pictures made with every team. Cornett hit a tee short with each group using their club and ball.


Oklahoma City Beautiful’s Luncheon Set For March 26th

26th ANNUAL SERVICE AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED

Winners for Oklahoma City Beautiful’s annual awards were announced recently. They will be presented at the luncheon March 26th at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

This year’s winners are: Edgewater/Lakepointe Neighborhood Association, Community Spirit; “Great OKC Tree Give-Away” (Tree Bank and the City of Oklahoma City), Education; Peter Hoffman jr., Individual Initiative; Rand Elliott, Lifetime Achievement; Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, Mayor’s Award for Distinguished Service; St. Anthony Hospital, Visionary; Valliance Bank, Chesapeake Energy Corporate Award, and City Rescue Mission, President’s Special Recognition Award.
