Kathy and Russ Walker and Helen and Bob Sullivan and their families had their annual Turkey Bowl party for neighbors and friends on Thanksgiving morning at Kite Park. Red and orange doughnuts were special treats in preparation for the OU-OSU football game that weekend.

At 9 a.m. it was a little cold, but coffee and hot chocolate and running on the playing field warmed up the crowd.

Among the people at the party were Sandy Meyers, Bebe and Bruce MacKellar, Bolen MacKellar, Lela and Mark Sullivan, Karen Browne, Elizabeth Anthony, Connell and Cliff Branan, Langley and Ford Branan, Pam and Bill Shdeed, Christy Morrow, Chelin and Gregg Satherlie, Coe London, Bev Kanaly, Katherine Buxton, Peg Malloy, Sandra LeVan and many small children.

HOT TIME IN NORMAN

OU is # 1.  (Photo by Chris Landsberger, The Oklahoman).

Some loyal Sooner fans boarded a charter bus at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club for the short ride to Norman and to the University of Oklahoma football game at 6 p.m. September 27.

They had fried chicken box lunches, or sandwiches, and they celebrated the great win over Texas Christian University with a round of cocktails.

The Oklahoma football team ranked # 1 the next day in the Associated Press poll .

The last time the Sooner were #1 was in 2003, where they stayed during the season, before losing in the Big 12 game to Kansas State.
