JRB Art at the Elms features New Year’s Day party in Oklahoma City

The 7th annual News Years Day opening at JRB Art at The Elms featured blackeyed peas, ham and turkey and a viewing of  new exhibition of artwork.

Artists were Shelley Horton-Trippe, Marko Krakohvil and Joe Andoe.

Guests included: Glen Gentele, Shannon Fitzgerald, John Krasno, Jeanette and Rand Elliott, Gail Vines, Suzanne Cunningham, Luck Jabara, Teresa Rose, James Pickel, Peter Dolese, Joan Gilmore, Al McLaughlin.

Joy Reed Belt was hostess.

Shirley and Mac Dunning celebrated their 80th birthdays with a dinner given by their children and grandchildren, Marylee, Tim, Juliann, Katylee Strange and Ann and Craig McBride and Cullen and Courtney Greer in the Strange home.

It was a Mexican come –and- go taco buffet dinner using the taco recipe that Mac Dunning has cooked for years. A red and white birthday cake was the dessert.


Edmond Women’s Club sets Mardi Gras Ball in February

Edmond Women’s Club will have the second fundraiser of the season. It is  the Masked Mardi Gras Ball Reunion. The event is  Feb. 6, 2010,  at the Skirvin Hotel, in downtown Oklahoma City.

Tickets are on sale now and are available by visiting ewc.org.

Ticket Options include: corporate tables for ten, $2,000; couples tickets, $250, and individual tickets are $150. Sponsorships are still available ranging from $7500 to $500. There are a limited number of corporate tables available, and are available on the website.

All monies raised go toward funding the club’s scholarships and grants distribution program, which will be awarded at the May 12, 2010, General Meeting at Oak Tree Country Club

Former Oklahoma City resident, Chef Mary Payne Moran who appeared on NewsOk’s Parties Extra! video recently,  is now Food/Nutrition Writer for The Washington Times Communities section.

After graduation from the California School of Culinary Arts in 2002, Chef Mary Payne Moran began her professional career shelling crabs at  Michael’s Restaurant in Santa Monica.  She launched her own company, Hail Mary’s, founded upon the belief that good food nurtures the soul, and began catering weddings, parties and large corporate events.

In the fall of 2008, Mary began teaching her culinary skills to others at Hollywood School House.

Recently, Mary added another division to her company. She is now also a Certified Nutritionist for high profile clients.  She helps her clients discover their healthy way of eating.

Her parents are Libby and Morton Payne, Oklahoma City.

Seventy Five Club members celebrated the season at a dance at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

Red roses, lilies and mums with silver ribbons, Christmas berries and greenery decorated the tables and the gourmet menu included crab cake and caviar, filet of beef and a chocolate cup with white chocolate mousse and berries. Many of the women wore red dresses.

Partygoers included Linda and Steve Garrett, Jane and Paul Austin, Jane and David Thompson, Cynda and Larry Ottaway, Jeary and Mike Seikel, Sue Ann and Dudley Hyde, Gennie and Bob Johnson, Diana and Jeff Beeler and Sandy and Stewart Meyers.

Judy Love, Barbara Brou and Susan Johnston were hostesses for a holiday party in the Love home which was spectacularly decorated with Santas, Christmas stockings, poinsettias, doll Christmas carolers, nativity scenes and angels.

Glittering trees decorated the food table where a huge array of party foods was served.

It was cold outside and two tall heaters were set at the front door.

Among the guests: Sue Timberlake, Jeaneen Naifeh, Harolyn Enis, Jenee Lister, Joan Gilmore, Karen Luke, Marilyn Meade, Martha Bradshaw, Pam Smith, Laurie Hyde, Penny McCaleb, Sharon Wade, Mary Ann Haskins, SoRelle Fitzgerald, Carol Gann, Pam Shdeed and Carolyn Zachritz.

Stan Hupfeld, President and CEO of Integris Health Center, was honored at dinner  at Gaillardia Golf and Country Club.  The event celebrated his health care career and his 22 years of leadership at Integris.

He will be  new chairman of the Integris Family of Foundations. Bruce Lawrence will be the new President. Transition of officers is January 2010.

Lawrence was master of ceremonies for Hupfeld’s retirement party and was also an honoree as incoming CEO.

Speakers at the party were Kate Hupfeld Halinski, Kelly Hupfeld Merkur, Matthew Hupfeld, Travis Hupfeld, Turner Hupfeld, Jim Daniel, James Moore, Beth Pauchnik, Bill Mosteller, Luke Corbett.

It was announced that December 4 had been proclaimed Stanley F. Hupfeld Day by Gov. Brad Henry.

A video of the skits that Hupfeld participated in through the years was shown and he was presented a sculpture, a trip, and his wife, Suzie Hupfeld, was recognized with a gift and a bouquet of flowers. Donna Lawrence, Bruce Lawrence’s wife, was also introduced and presented flowers. Guests and the Hupfelds also heard that Western Village Academy would be re-named to Stanley F. Hupfeld Academy because of Hupfeld’s interest and support of the school through the years.
