Cattle Baron’s Ball Set for August 22

The 7th Annual Cattle Baron’s Ball, “Stars, Stetsons & Stilettos,” will be on August 22 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. This western-themed gala will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Starting at 6:30 p.m., the event includes a variety of activities including a catered dinner by Deep Fork Grill, drinks, live entertainment by the Perry Meirs Band, live and silent auctions, raffles, cow-milking, mug-sliding, rodeo roping contest. Tickets are $125 per person and must be purchased in advance.

The Cattle Baron’s Ball live auction will feature a unique opportunity for patrons to bid on hand-painted plates by campers at the American Cancer Society Camp Live-A-Dream. The young cancer survivors are children who have been diagnosed with cancer at some time during their youth.
Auction items include a six day trip to Aruba (private condo), dinner for 20 with Oklahoma legends Billy Sims, Jason White and Steve Owens, autographed Rick Springfield guitar, a pair of shoes a month for a year from Dillard’s.
In addition to bidding on items during the live, silent, and Big Board auctions, attendees will enjoy the annual Pony Preakness stick-horse races. The Cowboy Casino will also be open all night for those guests who prefer cards and dice to ponies or dancing.
Sponsors of the 2009 Cattle Baron’s Ball include Bank of America, Chesapeake Energy, ATC Freightliner Group, LLC, OU Physicians/OU Medicine, Harrison Gypsum Company, United Engines, Integris Health, OG&E, Oklahoma ProCure Treatment Center, Flinto, Inc., and Sheplers.
Tri Delta members plan pansy sale

The Tri Delta Pansy Patch fund-raiser event is set for October 3, but Kim Mullins, Chairman, is taking orders for pansies now.
There are pansies with faces and solid colored pansies. Colors are yellow, white, purple, dark blue, multi-colored, red, red and yellow, white, azure blue, true blue, orange, purple and yellow and viola pastel mix.
Cost is $16. per flat.
The fundraiser is held yearly to benefit Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association (”OCCA”). The sale and pick up area is in the parking lot of Casady Square, located on the corner of Britton Road and Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City.
Members will provide delivery in the Oklahoma City area for $10.

FLAMING FESTIVAL
The preview party for the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni’s annual Flaming Festival was a huge success. Not only were the 40 plus tables set up, but the group served dinner and announced the 2008 Theta of the Year, Lee Ann Nordin.
She has been Theta alumni president, OU Corporation board president and Junior League president.
The event was Nov. 11th at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

The next day beginning at 10 a.m. the fun tables were shown again. There was also a luncheon and speaker, Charles Faudree. Homemade cookies were served at the tea table and gourmet baked items and appetizers were sold at the Pansy Pantry.
Proceeds from the Festival benefit CASA, the “Food 4 Kids” program and Theta programs. Co-chairmen of the Festival were Ranell Brown and Betsy White.
University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University Thetas were involved with the party as well as Thetas living in Oklahoma City from other chapters.

Parties Extra!—November 3,2008—New Fund-Raiser Set

A first time luncheon on February 3 called “The Breath-A Lung Health Luncheon” will be at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club and will feature Deborah Morosini, Dana Reeve’s sister, as speaker.
Table hostesses were honored at The Coach House Oct. 29 at a luncheon given by Elaine Levy and Mary Blankenship-Pointer, event co-chairmen. Lesley St. John is tables hostess chairman.
At the party were people who will be luncheon hostesses and they are Debbie Yoeckel, Karla Wallace, Jane Thompson, Lesley St. John, Grace Ryan, Charlotte Richels, Lana Lopez, Elaine Levy, Carlene Burger and Mary Blankenship-Pointer.
There will be a Chinese auction. Bidding will be by dropping tickets into containers next to such items as a Prada bag and Coco Channel sunglasses.
A VIP/Patron party is set for the evening before the luncheon and hosts will be Elaine and Harrison Levy.
The event benefits the American Lung Association.

FUND RAISING AND FUN RAISING

Members of Chi Omega Alumni were hostesses for a cocktail buffet and fashion show in the home of David LeNorman in Gaillardia.
Lots of sorority members and their guests attended the fund-raiser which benefits Hearts for Hearing. CK & Company provided the fashions and models were members of Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Chi O.
Committee members were co-chairmen Lori Hill and Laura Gary, Diana Beeler, Jeanie Butts, Alison Calhoon, Carolyn Chancellor, Marsha Funk, Kate Gary, Elaine Jackson, Brooke Kivett, Gayle Larimore, Shelley Loomis and Judy Moses.
