Delta Delta Delta “Art With A Heart” benefit set for Feb. 25th in Oklahoma City

“Art With A Heart” is Feb. 25th from 6 until 9 p.m. in the new Atrium of Children’s Hospital. It is the 10th annual Delta Delta Delta Alumni event and features artwork of children receiving treatment at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma.

The young artists created the artwork which will be available at a silent auction.  They will also attend the party and will be recognized for their accomplishments. Proceeds from the event will  benefit the Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association.

New Tri Delta group formed in Oklahoma City for young alums

Members of Delta Delta Delta young alumni met for a luau swimming party in the home of Lisa and Alan Synar.

The young alumni group is composed mostly of women who were initiated after 1998. Coordinators for the party were Joanna Rus, Rachel Uraneck and Juliann Strange.

Host Alan Synar smoked salmon for an appetizer and created “club specials” for drinks. Assisting with other food items were Lisa Synar, Rhonda Williston Marylee Strange and Nina Barker.

Guests included Katylee Strange, Caitlin Williston, Natalie Hodgens, Bethany Gerber, Lindsay Sutherland, Emily Cooper, Lacy Mitchell and Ann Birkett.

Coming up is the Delta Delta Delta “Art With A Heart” art show.  It is set for February 25 from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center.

Children receiving treatment at the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma create the art during art therapy sessions and donate it to the sale. These artists come to the party.

Tickets are $30. and are available at the door. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Co-chairmen are Claudia Robertson and Kacey Luster.  Web site is www.artwithaheartokc.com.


Tri Delta members celebrate 100 years on the University of Oklahoma campus

University of Oklahoma members of Delta Delta Delta sorority celebrated 100 years of being on the OU campus with a weekend of activities in Norman.

The main event, the dinner/dance, was at the Embassy Suites and 880 people attended. A video of photos of members through the decades was shown and active chapter president Morgan Wolber was on the program, along with Ganga Moorthy, Sarah Wittrock, Sarah Graybill and Katylee Strange.

Special guests were Jackye Brown Clark, National President, and Beth Dollase, National Foundation board member. Marylee Strange was chairman of the event.

The band was Souled Out.”  Black and white tablecloths, gold napkins and sorority symbols of pearls and pansies were on the tables.

Among the celebrants were Betsy and Ken Hibbard, Margaret and Cameron McLain, Lucy and Steve Hoelscher, Melanie and Van Russell, Jackie Jones, Lisa Synar, Sonja and Johnny Pellow, Marylee and Tim Strange, Claudia and Jim Robertson, Sarah and Bryan Wells, Ann and Craig McBride, Rhonda and Jim Williston, Julie Barry, Dr. Jennifer Nelson, Dr. Bob Jarman, Beth Brown, Judy and Tom Wolf, Jayne and Gary Underwood.

Other activities: 450 members met on Friday at a “Meet and Greet” party at Seven47 on Campus Corner. On Saturday there were also pledge class reunion luncheons in 15 locations in Norman and an open house and dessert and tour of the chapter house.

Lauren McIver and Juliann Strange were at the Celebration.

Ann Trigg McBride and her husband Craig McBride were at Seven47 on Friday night.

Ann-Shannon Hail, Saradee Griffin, Marla Freeman, Erin Medlin, Rebecca  LaFevers and Dr. Elena Willis attended the Centennial events.

Tri Delta alums get together for Bullfrog Party

Members of Tri Delta alumni got together in the home of Melinda and Randy Compton’s home in Fairview Farms for the annual Bullfrog Party. Bullfrog drinks (a limeade concoction) have been served since the social event began years ago.

Green frogs decorated the home and tables outside had cloths trimmed in green.

The 8th annual Delta Delta Delta “Art With A Heart” art show is Feb. 26th from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center.

Tri Delta members plan pansy sale

The Tri Delta Pansy Patch fund-raiser event is set for October 3, but Kim Mullins, Chairman, is taking orders for pansies now.

There are pansies with faces and solid colored pansies. Colors are yellow, white, purple, dark blue, multi-colored, red, red and yellow, white, azure blue, true blue, orange, purple and yellow and viola pastel mix.

Cost is $16. per flat.

The fundraiser is held yearly to benefit Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association (“OCCA”). The sale and pick up area is in the parking lot of Casady Square, located on the corner of Britton Road and Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City.

Members will provide delivery in the Oklahoma City area for $10.

Members of  Delta Delta Delta alumnae met for hors d’oeuvres, wine and a “dirty Santa” gift ornament exchange in the home of Melinda Compton in Fairview Farms.

Tri Delta -themed ornaments in the shape of dolphins, pansies, crescent moons, as well as silver bells, were among the gifts. Officers provided hors d’oeuvres and wine.
