HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOANIE

Claudine Long entertained several of Joan Gilmore’s friends at a birthday luncheon. She cooked a gourmet meal and then one of the guests, M.J. Van Deventer, served rum cake that she brought as a special treat for the honoree.
Guests were Katie Davis, Judge Carol Hansen, Vicki Clark Gourley and Betty Price.

Megan Edwards and Andy Bauml were honored at an engagement party recently. They will be married Aug. 8 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The party was in the home of Cathy and Mike Cross.
Co-hosts were Janie and Greg Cook , Ann and Zane Fleming, Susie and Tommy Gray, Marilyn and Jack Henley, Debbie and Ron McCord and Mary and J. Robert Reneau.
The hosts gave the couple a silver champagne bucket.

Oklahoma Event
Donna Nigh was honored at a come and go party given by Nancy Ellis in her home.
Nigh was one of the inductees in the Nov. 12 Oklahoma Hall of Fame event.
Oklahoma flags were in the centerpiece and a large Oklahoma-shaped cake was served during the party.

CHRISTINA AND MAT
Jeaneen and Bob Naifeh and Ann Alspaugh honored Christina Felton and Mat Thompson at an engagement party in the Naifeh home. The couple will be married in April.
The Naifeh’s dining room table held silver trays filled with great food and beautiful crystal vases filled with white hydrangeas and orchids.
Guests included Holly and Clay Healey, Carol and Mac Troy, Susan and Peter Hoffman, Patty and Dick Marshall, Ann Felton Gilliland and Bob Gilliland, Kelsey and Roland Walters, Karen and Earl Ingram, Gennie and Bob Johnson and Anne and Ed Dalton.

CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE

An art exhibition and opening reception was held at the Latin American Cultural Center in Crossroads Mall and local Latino artists, Alejandro Bagajewicz, Alvaro Posadas, Carlos Tello, Esperanza Saldarriaga, Frank Mutis, Imelda Juarez, Jaime Macias, Laura Berthila Malagon, Melisa Sue Lopez and Rocio Perez gave an exhibition of their art work.
There was live music played by local Latino artists,a presentation of traditional outfits from Latin America and Spain and there was also a Hispanic American Jade collection including several artistic ornaments on exhibit.

Helen Ford Wallace—Parties Extra!—Holiday Shower
TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

A dinner and holiday shower honored Ashley Snider and Zack Taylor who were married Oct. 4.
It was in the home of Kirk and Royce Hammons. Co-hostesses were Susan Weaver, Jackie Acres and Jackie Jones.
The buffet table was decorated with a Christmas tree as the centerpiece which was a gift from the hostesses. There was an ornament for every holiday, plus wedding ornaments. The other tables featured different holidays, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving and July 4th. Gifts included a Stars and Stripes throw blanket and a pumpkin bowl filled with holiday napkins and cups.

Party-goers enjoyed the early morning breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. It was the 2008 President’s Associates annual Beat Texas Celebration. They left by chartered bus and police escort at 8:30 a.m.
Red and white balloons decorated the room where most everyone wore red and white. Clarke Stroud announced notable guests as they arrived at the party. An OU sales table was set up with more red and white attire if needed.
A POST GAME PARTY
Dee Dee and Jon Stuart invited friends to the Jade Room of the Hilton Anatole Hotel following the University of Oklahoma-University of Texas football game which was, unfortunately, won by UT.
Jon Stuart is Board of Regents Chairman and the party followed the arrival of the buses back to the Hotel.
The room was decorated in red and white roses and since it was Stuart’s wife’s birthday, a birthday cake was on the menu.

THE LOTUS CLUB DANCE
Members of one of Oklahoma City’s Dance clubs, the Lotus Club, had their Fall Dance at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club recently. They met early for cocktails, had a gourmet dinner then and danced.
New members of the group are Bette and Jim MacKellar.
Officers were announced and Tom King is the new president. Other officers are Johnson
Hightower, vice president, and Millie Hightower,secretary/treasurer.

LEADERSHIP ALUMS….. Larry Hawkins, Karl Springer, Valerie Thompson, Katie Kimberling and Harry L. Wilson were at the Leadership Oklahoma City alumni reception for the new Oklahoma City Public School Superintendent Springer at Douglass High School. Guests heard him speak about his vision for the schools. School Board chairman Kirk Humphreys also talked. HERE COMES THE JUDGE…..Saundra O’Hara, Judge Cherri Farrar and Bob Lake Grove were at the party at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club’s Harry’s Bar given by Dave Roberts honoring Grove who was recently appointed as a Judge on the State Worker’s Compensation Court. Among those people attending were Andrew Coats, Howard Berry jr. Saundra O’Hara, Alan Harris, Cherri and Ralph Farrar, Judy and Glen Floyd, Karen and Robert Mitchell, Chantel Castro, Richard Farris, Jim Robinson, Renee and Bill Vassar, Jeff Black, John Forbes and Ted Bonham. 60 friends gathered to congratulate him. FUN AND FESTIVE…. Dick and Mary Clements and Clara and Van Lafferty were at the downtown Kiwanis Club Inaugural Dinner at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club for the installation of new officers. President John Martin recognized members and guests including past presidents. Alton Gardner was installing officer. New officers are President Beverly Woodrome, President-Elect Miki Farris, Secretary Rachael Weber, Treasurer Erin Batey, Vice-Presidents Kyle McLain and Jon Pennington. Judge Noma Gurich was master of ceremonies.
BRIDAL EVENT…Jeanne Pitt, Michelle Jameson, Shannon Jameson, Nora Medley and Jackie Medley were at the bridal shower for Shannon Jameson, bride-elect of Ryan Medley. Gayle Semtner was hostess and assisting her were JoAnn Brown, Jan Farha Klopp and Jennifer Sanders. Others attending were Melinda and Michelle Medley, Mary Dyer, Suzanne Watson, Lindsey Buchanan, Judy McGrath, Mary Bee Clark, Eve Patterson, Joy Anderson and Martha King. FINE WINE…Amy Dunn, Lana Lopez, Elaine Honig, Hilarie Blaney and Jane Thompson were were at the Chesapeake Boathouse for one of the parties planned during the Wine, Women and Shoes event. The wine tasting party at the Boathouse was called “A Taste of Vino” featuring many of the participating vintners. Dunn, Lopez, Blaney and Thompson were chairmen of the Wine, Women and Shoes event. It was a benefit for Impact Oklahoma and Calm Waters Center for children and families. Honig was the founder of the event now held throughout the United States. Andre Bedouret, Salvator Guselli, Patrick Mitchell, Tom Welther, Joseph Chiles and Michael Scott were at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club to cook for Country Club members. This was the last in a series of fundraising dinners to assist the 14 chefs of the World Master Chef Society –Team USA’s efforts in this year’s competition at the International Food and Hospitality Convention.
