Parties Extra!—Sunday tea given by members of Women in Communication in Oklahoma City honors Byliner Award recipients

Members of the Oklahoma City chapter of the Association for Women In Communications honored the 2011 Byliner Award honorees as well as the honorees from the past 52 years at a tea in the home of Ann Felton-Gilliland (She was a 1985 Byliner Honoree.)
AWC-OKC president Elizabeth Taylor introduced the honorees and invited guests to attend the Feb. 10th banquet at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. Honorees for the Byliner Award Dinner are Debbie Anglin, Catherine Bishop, Dr. Barbara Bonner, Debby Hampton, Gail Huneryager, Elizabeth Kerr, Cynthia Reid.
Among the guests were Jose Freede, Margo Ward, Linda Haneborg, Kay Goebel, Joan Gilmore, Paula Love, Billie Rodely, Betty Price, Jo Rowan, Liz Coe, Linda Lambert, Sunny Cearley, Katelyn Turnbull, Kristin Van Nort, Debby Hampton, Mandi Briggs, Alli Yeager and Dena Drabek.
Committee members are Jenny Love Meyer, honorary chairman; Katelyn Turnbell and Kristin Van Nort, Byliner chairmen; Sara Lockhart, arrangements; Erin Engelke, honoree liaison; Amanda Kirkpatrick, invitations; Paula Love, publicity; Vonnie Anderson, registration and seating; Mandi Briggs and Alli Yaeger, tea co-chairmen, and Laura Monetti, advisory member.
Ann Felton Gilliland welcomes Linda Haneborg and Lil Ross to her home for the party honoring 2011 Byliner Award honorees as well as award winners from past years. The event was sponsored by the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Association for Women in Communication.

The 52nd Byliners Awards Dinner sponsored by the Oklahoma City Professional Chapter of the Association for Women In Communications was held at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.
Sherri Coale, Ann Lacy, Jenny Love Meyer, Pattye Moore, Kerry Robertson Kerby, Carol Sorrels, Cathy Stackpole and Dr. Caryn C. Vaughn were award winners at the event.
Committee members were: Mary Melon, honorary chairman; Margo Ward, chairman, Katelyn Turnbull, Elizabeth Taylor, Kristin Van Nort, Heidi Brandes, Sherree Murray, Ashley Barcum, Vonnie Anderson, Mandy Ellis, Kim Holding, Mandi Briggs, Sunny Cearley.
The name “Women in Communications” came into being in 1972. The group was originally called Theta Sigma Phi. AWC uses proceeds from the event to offer education and resources to members and scholarships to students pursuing a degree in communications.

A tea honored past and present Byliner Award honorees prior to the 51st Annual Byliner Awards dinner which was Feb. 5. Hostesses were members of the Association for Women in Communication in the home of Dr. Susan Chambers,who was a 2008 Byliner honoree.
This year’s winners are Miki Farris, Martha Ferretti, Molly Ross Fritch, Cathy O’Connor, Dr. Marion Paden, Sandra Gales Shapard and Billie Thrash.
President Amanda Spencer made introductions and told a little about Women In Communication.
Sigrid Bowman, Ann Larson, Ann DeFrange, Ann Felton Gilliland, all former Byliner Award winners, were at the Tea.

51st Byliners Awards Dinner set for February 5, 2009
WOMEN IN COMMUNICATIONS
Seven women will be honored at the 51st annual Byliner’s Banquet at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club on Feb. 5. They are Miki Farris (Child Advocacy); Martha Ferretti (Health); Molly Ross Fritch (Emerging Byliner); Cathy O’Connor (Economic Development); Dr. Marion Paden (Education); Sandra Gales Shapard (Communications), and Billie Thrash (Arts).
Members of the Oklahoma City Professional Chapter of The Association for Women in Communications are hosts. Margo Ward and Rachel Klein are co-chairmen. On their committee are Linda Haneborg, Heather Elmenhorst, Mickie Lara, Stephanie Hansen, Heide Brandes, Vonnie Anderson, Mandy Ellis, Celena McCord, Kim Holding, Tabbi Van Houtte, Kristin McNeese and Julie Qualls.
Dinner is set for 7 p.m. following a reception for the honorees.
The awards honor women whose dedication and achievement have made a significant impact on others and proceeds will provide scholarships for collegiate women pursuing communications-related degrees at Oklahoma colleges as well as educational programming for AWC members.
