Judy Austin celebrated her 60th birthday recently.  She and husband Sanford planned  a party in their  backyard. They have been working on the garden for two years and it  features a waterfall and water garden.

Centerpieces were orchids and koi fish swimming around in vases. The fish were added to the water garden at the end of the evening.

Chocolate bars and water bottles labeled “Sassy at Sixty.” The birthday cake also had that saying on it. Vegetables and skewers of meat were arranged artistically on the buffet table.

Guests included  Judie Steelman, Dixie Jensen, Barb and Stan Shrago, Marcia Crook, Larry Clinton, Anita and Charles Marcus, Carolyn and David and Sam Abrams, Maxine Austin, Roberta and Sonny Jackman, Karen Swyden, Suzanne Owens, Ashley Parrish, Tim Fields, Eddie Walker, Susan and Mark Robertson, Jerry Jennings, Peggy McMillen, Chloe and Hank Wahl, Becky and Don Sable, Sarah Sagran, Mike Belanger, Stacey and Eric Stiglets and Ann and Jack Taylor.

Claudine Long entertained several of Joan Gilmore’s friends at a birthday luncheon. She cooked a gourmet meal and then one of the guests, M.J. Van Deventer, served rum cake that she brought as a special treat for the honoree.

Guests were Katie Davis, Judge Carol Hansen, Vicki Clark Gourley and Betty Price.

Family members honored John Trigg on his 80th birthday with a barbecue dinner in his home. His wife Lynne Trigg was hostess.

Pat Patterson who is a jeweler in Glenwood Springs, Colo., created a handmade key chain with a mountain range etched on it.

At the party were  Ann and Craig McBride, Cullen and Courtney Greer, Marylee and Tim Strange, Juliann and Katylee Strange, Rosemary Trigg Patterson, Jack Trigg, Janice and Joe Dan Trigg, Liz Brown, Mike Muckleroy, Margaret, Jessie and Lizzie Muckleroy, Trish and Max Clark.

He was also honored at a dinner party with his “Friday Night Group”, a longtime group of friends who dine out every Friday night.

Grenda Moss Celebrated her 60th birthday with a luncheon at Charlie Newton’s Restaurant.  Her daughters-in-law, Tessa Moss and Whitney Moss, surprised her at a party.

Grenda arrived via limo to the restaurant where 65 friends were waiting.  Sterling Tiffany silverware and blue and white china plates decorated the tables, along with vases of white roses for guests to take home.

People brought gifts for the honoree and also a card with a favorite “Grenda memory” for her scrapbook.

Among the guests were Kathy Rodgers, Shari Buxton, Sue Timberlake, Rawsie Boyles, Kanela Huff, Sue Ann Hyde, Barbara Thompson, Shari Buxton, Sally Royse, Susan Sigmon, Ann Fleming, Kyle Anderson, Olivia Laskowski, Whitney Moss, Jody Laskowski and Elizabeth Moss.

Friends who share January birthdays met in the home of Ranell Brown to celebrate.

Co-hostesses were Carleen Burger, Anne Holbrook, Lil Ross and Betsy Thorpe.

There were three birthday cakes were decorated with fresh flowers and a couple of  trees held heart ornaments. The buffet table was decorated with crystal hearts and there were large bowls and vases filled with red, white and pink candies.

The women wore nametags  which featured their names and birth dates.

The front door was very festive with strands, clusters and wreaths of Mardi Gras beads.

DR. CLAY’S 90TH BIRTHDAY

The party: A 90th birthday party for Dr. Dick Clay given by Barbara and Bud Beeler and Marty and Cliff Conkle in the Beeler home.
The theme: Halloween with “vampire bites” and unearthly delights” as well as “hexing grog.” The “witching hour” was 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.
Sweet treats: Chocolate eyeballs for party favors and lots of Halloween candy in every room. Flowers were everywhere too. Roses, tulips, orchids, artichokes and berries were arranged on the buffet table.
The birthday factor: The honoree received lots of cards and a memory book from his children and grandchildren.

Twins Elaine DeGiusti and Maria Abbott were honorees at a surprise 40th birthday party at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History in Norman. Husbands Dr.  Craig Abbott and Judge  Tim DeGiusti, Sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Frank Campbell and Parents Barbara and Ralph Thompson were hosts and surprised the women as they arrived. They thought they were attending a Museum function. Tables were set up throughout the Museum. The  dinner was served buffet style and included a Chocolate cake and a Lemon Cake, the twins’ favorites.A slide show of  Ralph Thompson’s photos of family members through the years played during the evening.  Guests were invited to tour the Museum following dinner.
