Celebrating her 40^th birthday with a party was Katie James. Shirley Blaik was hostess and John James assisted her.

The University of Oklahoma/Florida State University football game was playing while guests enjoyed the buffet of beef tenderloin sandwiches, mini-BLT’s, mushrooms, queso, spinach artichoke dip, chicken skewers and various birthday desserts.

Gabrielle Hefner celebrated her 16^th birthday with lunch at Nikkellette’s Cafe with friends. They enjoyed the restaurant’s famous ribbon cake topped with fresh flowers.

Hostesses were Alexis Hefner, Lynn Coury and Carol Hefner.

The girls sang happy birthday and other guests in the restaurant chimed in.

Laura Watts and Paula Chappell who share the same birthday, August 8^th,  celebrated their birthdays in the Diamond Room at Pearl’s on Classen Drive. Friends met for drinks and stayed for dinner.

Planning the party were Tamra Thomas and Sherry Helms.

Watts’ sons, Thomas Watts and Colin Watts, provided Raspberries N Cream ribbon cake. It featured a bouquet of fresh flowers on the top.

Suzy Gibson was surprised at a 45^th birthday party at the Greens Country Club. When she arrived guests were at the swimming pool, along with party hosts Blake Gibson, Kim Funderburk and Mara Porter.

Theme for the party was “No Little Black Dress Required-Just Your Little Black Swimsuit.” The cabana and bar area was decorated in a black and white polka dot décor. Party favors, pool toys and bright hibiscus hair accessories, were given to guests in black and white polka dot gift bags.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served, as well as polka dot bikini -decorated cookies.

David Mahone was surprised on his 60^th birthday with a party in the home of his mother, Abby Mahone. Co-hosts were Molly and Larry Holder, Kelly Mahone, Lauren and Juston Weems, Erin Holder and Madelyn Holder.

Large pictures from different times in the honoree’s life decorated the home along with old milk bottles filled with crimson and cream flowers noting his habit of milk and cookies before bedtime.

David Mahone’s favorite Oklahoma City foods were served at the event…enchiladas from Ted’s, barbecue from Swadleys, vodka chicken pasta from What’s Cooking. There were 60 cupcakes with candles and his mother’s chocolate chip cookies.

Friends came from Texas, Colorado, and from all over Oklahoma. They included Robin White, M.L. and Gary Hart, Tom Talley, Beth and Ed Wells, Judy and Bill Howard, Barbara and George Dahnke, Jerry and John Lockwood, Peggy and Kevin Kuhn, Jimmy Webber, Jon Varion, Ford Farris, Colette Ellis, Brad Ellis and Steve Stephens.

Sophie, Audrey (5), Hallie, Joseph (4), and Stephen Hoch, Ian Wallace, Chris and Luke Hoch celebrate Tom Hoch’s birthday.

Tom Hoch was honored on his 80^th birthday with a party in the atrium in Christ the King Catholic Church. Hosts were his wife, Joanne, his four children, Liz London, Tim Hoch, Will Hoch and Tom Hoch and their families.

In tribute to the honoree’s love of antique toys and trains, a cake was designed as a replica of an antique train with a load of miniature antique toys, golf clubs and a likeness of Tom’s antique car. Daughter-in-law Sandra Maihos Hoch created the cake. Balloons and paper centerpieces were on the tables along with large vases of Gerber daisies, sunflowers arranged by Jim Vallion.

A book called “Yesterday’s Child, The Life and Times of Tom Hoch” was written by his son, Will Hoch, and presented to him by his family.

Mac and Carol Troy, Russ Walker celebrate Carol’s birthday.

Carol Troy was honored at a birthday party at Trochta’s Flowers. The event was in the Greenhouse and Showroom. Invitations featured flower seeds so guests could plant their own flower gardens. Attire for the evening was  “garden casual” and Larry Brannon was caterer for the buffet dinner.

Hosts for the party were Gene and Ed Barth, Karen and Bob Browne, Sue Ann and Dudley Hyde, Polly and Larry Nichols, Charlotte and John Richels and Kathy and Russ Walker. They gave the honoree a swinging garden chair imprinted with a butterfly.

Jill Justice played the harp and Polly Nichols and Karen Browne read a poem called “The Swing” by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Kirsten Cash, Katie Newby and Michelle Ponder celebrated their 35^th birthdays with a party at Crabtown in Bricktown. There was a disc jockey for dancing and a special birthday cake with fondant icing in stripes, polka dots and flowers from Katie’s Cakes.

“You might be a child of the 70s and 80s if…” packets were on the tables. Facts included “…If you ever had a Swatch Watch” or “…if you wore a banana clip in your hair” and “…if you remember getting off the couch to change the television channel.”

Mike Seikel was honored at a birthday brunch at Boom. Hosts were his wife, Jeary, and children Emily Seikel and Denise Duong Seikel and Matt Seikel.  It was his 60^th birthday.

The invitation was a drawing by artist Denise Duong Seikel of the honoree in physician’s clothing (complete with stethoscope)  holding a fish (to depict one of his favorite hobbies.)

Guests ordered from the menu and enjoyed quiche, French toast, Steak eggs benedict, bloody marys, screwdrivers and other brunch items.

Sunshine Myers was honored at a birthday luncheon at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country. The invitation stated that she was celebrating “29” for the 61^st time.

Daughters Sherry Sullivan, Gaye Sherman and Laura Sullivan were hostesses.

Hot pink Gerber daisies, pink roses, white hydrangeas and white daisies with green stock were the flower bouquets on the table and the cake featured a chocolate and a white layer.  It was decorated with fondant icing with pink flowers and green stripes. Also on the table were framed photos of the honoree. Pink napkins said, “You are our Sunshine!”
