Arts! Arts! Arts! event features Oklahoma weather theme

The 19th annual Arts! Arts! Arts! event was March 24 at the National Weather Center in Norman. Hosts were members of the University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts.

Theme was “Blown Away By the Arts!” and Meterologist Gary England and his wife, Mary England, were special guests. Gary England gave the forecast for the arts at OU and the weather forecast.

200 guests were greeted by the OU Steel Band and a jazz trio played during the cocktail reception and silent auction.  Students performed a modern dance routine to “Raining In My Heart.” Among the auction items were an OU-UT weekend package trip, suite for the Redhawks game on May 2, and a fine arts pass to all fine arts events at OU during the 2010-2011 academic year.

Musical Theater students performed with weather related themes and art students created prints, pottery and a digital and traditional painted portrait.

Prior to dinner, President Boren announced that Jim Bialac had given the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Fine Arts a fabulous art collection.

Committee members were Kirk Hammons and Linda Rodgers, chairmen; Gene Barth, Linda Coats, Michel Cross, Peggy Cummings, Nancy Diamond, Arletta Fink, Beverly Funke, Linda Garrett, Mary Carol Gilbert, Martha Griffin, Tamara Hermen, Sue Ann Hyde, Barbara Kerrick, Ruth Lampton, Anne McCurdy, Sandy Meyers, Barbara Paul, Wanda Swisher, Marcy Taber, Laura Young and Rachel Zelby.

Linda Rodgers, Rich Taylor, Kirk Hammons and Andi Taylor were at the event.

Umbrellas and hot air balloons decorated the tables at the National Weather Center. The hot air balloons were attached to cupcakes.

Bill and Kris Frankfurt and Royce Hammons were at Arts!Arts!Arts! in Norman.
