Parties Extra – Kappa Alpha Theta, Flaming Festival.
The 52nd annual Flaming Festival is set for November 12 at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. There will be 40 decorated tables set up by Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni members and area merchants.
There is also a luncheon and Charles Faudree will be guest speaker. Proceeds benefit CASA and the Food 4 Kids program. Ranell Brown and Betsy White are co-chairmen.

Seventy Five Club members had the Fall Dance at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. 200 people attended the event which convened with cocktails at 7:30 p.m.

CELEBRATION…Nancy Hall was honoree at a 60th birthday dinner in the home of Jane Jayroe Gamble and Gerald Gamble. Hall and husband Ed Collins are longtime friends of the Gambles.
Caterer Kamala Gamble cooked all of the healthy foods including the Mexican birthday cake topped with mangos and strawberries. There was also salmon with squash salsa and chicken in a roasted tomato sauce and salad picked fresh from Kamala’s home garden.
Red roses, cream-colored hydrangeas and cranberry-colored daisies decorated the tables. The crimson and cream colors represented the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where Hall is employed.

TEA FOR YOU…An afternoon tea was given for members of the Girl Scout Juliette Low Leadership Society. Carleen Burger was hostess and Ione Brown was chairman. Assisting were Sandy Pembroke, Kelly Basey, Melanie Maguire. Kay Goebel and Joan Maguire.
Pouring at the tea were Ann Alspaugh, Annie Bohanon, Christy Everest, Jose Freede, Lou Kerr, Karen Luke, Rita Moore, Mary Nichols, Polly Nichols, Meg Salyer and Wanda Swisher.
Lt. Gov. Jari Askins was an honored guest and talked about her memories as a Girl Scout. She reminded the group about the importance of having good role models for young girls.
Brownie Scouts in their uniforms from Christ the King School’s second grade sang two songs for the 75 women and vases filled with pearls and daisies decorated the tea table. Tea and tea sandwiches, punch and Girl Scout cookies were served.
Linda Whittington, Mary Anne West, Paula Sanford, Dr. Ramona Paul and Ione Brown are at the home of Carleen Burger for the Girl Scout Tea.
CURTAIN CALL…An end-of-the-season party for The Lyric Theater Understudies group was held at 611 Creative in downtown Oklahoma City. Rococo’s Restaurant staff was in charge of the food.
There were drawings for tickets for Lyric’s winter season at The Plaza Theatre and other great door prizes.
The Lyric Understudies is an organization within Lyric Theatre for musical theater lovers ages 21-40. There are 100 members.
Among the people attending the party were Ryan Johnston, Cooper Johnson, Whitney Ingram, Ashley Altshuler, Allison Stanford, Lance McDaniel, David Evans, Molly Fritch, Cristina Felton, Natalie Biddinger, Kevin Ratliff, Justin King.
MARRY-MAKING…Marylee and Tim Strange entertained at a dinner honoring newly-weds Ann and Craig McBride who were married in June. Ann McBride is the former Ann Trigg Greer.
Lisa and Alan Synar cooked Italian pasta for the group. Dessert was chocolate fountains with strawberries, pineapple and cake for dipping.
A tent was set in the backyard and pots of garden flowers were on the tables as well as freshly cut flowers on the serving table.

WELCOME BACK…. Members of the Junior League of Oklahoma City had the first General Meeting and it was followed by a “Welcome Back Party” at Cafe’ Nova. Over 100 women attended. There were no official decorations, but members enjoyed appetizers, desserts, coffee, martinis and wine.
There was an “icebreaker” and the partygoers were asked to write their favorite movie on their nametags, along with their names. Movie favorites ranged from old movies and comedies to horror flicks. It provided lots of conversation for the members.
PARTIES EXTRA: SEPTEMBER 26, 2007- SPRING PREMIERE
The Algo spring collection 2008 was shown to a group of Oklahoma City women in the formal dining room of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country. Dede and Bob Benham of Balliet’s were hosts for a luncheon and private fashion showing.
Carlo Goetschel, Zurich, Switzerland, was in town for the event. His family founded the company which features well tailored European clothes. Champagne cocktails were served prior to the gourmet lunch which consisted of “A Taste of Switzerland.” The menu was Alpine mushroom soup with gruyere cheese and sherry, Lake Geneva lobster salad nicoise and Swiss chocolate and raspberry Napoleon.
Models presented the beautiful collection of women’s fashions after lunch. Among the people at the party were Kim Henry, Louise Bennett, Lynn White, Jose Freede, Barbara Durrett, Linda Miller, Barbara Beeler, Lolly Sweeney, Lettie Douglass, Berta Faye Rex and Joy Richardson.
Bob Benham, Kim Henry, DeDe Benham and Carlo Goetschel were at the luncheon where the Algo Spring Collection was previewed by Oklahoma City women.

IT’S A JUNGLE IN THERE…If all the wild animals at the Oklahoma City Zoo peeked in the windows of Deep Fork Grill last weekend, they’d see people going wild in their honor.
Guest chefs for Deep Fork, Lela and Mark Sullivan, planned a “Going Wild at Deep Fork Grill” gourmet dinner for friends and Dr. Sullivan’s favorite organization…the Zoo. A capacity crowd arrived to the beat of jungle drums and a drink called “Manatee Mojita,” a great lime and mint drink.

MEET THE MANAGER…A reception honored Susan and Oliver Boudin last week. It was at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. He is the club’s new General Manager.
Members of the board of directors were hosts. Bill Rodgers is president.
There were French Flags and Oklahoma Flags for Decorations.
Ken Burkemper created two ice carvings, one of the Eiffel Tower
and an Oklahoma Oil Derrick. Jim Vallion produced the
centerpieces in the French colors of red, white and blue.
There were 500 members attending the welcome reception.

PARTIES EXTRA: SEPTEMBER 14, 2007–MISS AMERICA DROPS BY PARTY
Candy and Tom Dulaney welcome Miss America Lauren Nelson, center, to their home. The Lawton, Oklahoma, native was in town for a number of public appearances.
THERE SHE IS…Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson dropped by the Nichols Hills home of Candy and Tom Dulaney last weekend. The Dulaneys were hosting his Phi Gamma Delta 50th pledge class reunion dinner on September 7th.
60 University of Oklahoma fraternity members and wives and dates were at the party where they all received retro tee shirts with class members’ names and nicknames on the back.
Hawaiian girls, reminders of the fraternity “FIJI Island Party” greeted the guests and handed out buttons which said “Fiji ’57, 50th reunion.”
Purple Passion punch, also reminiscent of the”Island Party” was served. The partygoers attended the OU-Miami football game the next day and went to the fraternity house afterwards. Sharon and Johnny Bozalis entertained at a barbeque that night.
BRING YOUR MALLET…. Tad Cassidy organized a group of Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club members to play croquet. There were games at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. September 9th.
Players wore their “whites” and either brought their own croquet mallets or borrowed them from Cassidy. Cassidy also lectured the group about different games and also how to hold the mallet correctly.
There was a tent for spectators and a bar set up. Candy and Chuck Ainsworth were among the organizers.
CELEBRATION…Lauren and Tyler Harris were honorees at a dinner on September 7th given by their parents, Anne and Mark Harris and Patty and Bill Held, in the Harris home. The couple lives in Houston. They were married in August in Beaver Creek, Colo.
Tables were set outside for a steak and chicken dinner and there was a three- layered wedding cake. Black and white checked plates held glass hurricane lanterns filled with red roses and yellow, pink and red Gerber daisies.

ARTWORK…A reception on September 7th at the JRB Art At The Elms Gallery honored Matt Seikel and Denise Duong for their art show. The show is part of the monthly Paseo Gallery Walk and will be in place until September 29.
Champagne and hors d’oeuvres were on the menu and flowers around the gallery were bouquets of bird of paradise and anthuriums which complemented the colorful and lively works of art.
Seikel is a ceramic artist and Duong paints his works as well as does her own paintings. She mixes acrylic, tissue paper and fabric collages in the backgrounds.
RECEPTION….Drs. Martha and William Pennington were honorees at an Oklahoma City reception in August. Rita and Paul Matthews were hosts and Cathy and Jim Waldo were co-hosts.
The couple was married July 7 in Tishomingo at a small family service. There was a reception that day for community members in the down town park served by the ladies of the Johnston County Historical Society who dressed in turn- of- the -century outfits.
William Pennington, Paul Matthews and Jim Waldo were on the Oklahoma State Historical Society board of directors together and Pennington is president of Murray State College in Tishomingo.

They were married in August in Beaver Creek, Colo. At this party, there was a large three tiered chocolate, lemon and raspberry wedding cake.
Dinner was served outdoor where hurricane lamps held candles and beautiful flowers. Rain was predicted but the raindrops did not fall until after the party-goers had gone home.
