Cecil Brown celebrated his 100th birthday at a party at the Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church Parish Hall on August 9th. Hosts were his children, Sherri and John Brown, Barbara and Pete Brown, Marianne and Bill Brown, Mary Ann and Jim Markey and Mindy and Mike Brown. (Video and photos by Helen Ford Wallace).

Angie and Ford Sanger  bring out the party decorations.

At a recent dinner party in the home of Angie and Ford Sanger, the guests, all family members, were in tears.

As the last person arrived, Ford gathered the group for some pictures.

He got his camera. He lined the people up and said ” You all look at the camera!

“Now say…….we are pregnant!”

There was silence and then everyone burst into tears of happiness.  The couple is expecting a baby in March.

Then Angie and Ford  broke out the party centerpieces….pink and blue balloons…. and served up baby back ribs, baby carrots, baby spinach and home made macaroni and cheese and corn bread.

Dessert was petit fours decorated with pink and blue booties.

It was the best party ever!

Artist Lark O’Neil was honored at a party at Flip’s. Her paintings were hung there and hosts invited friends to see the exhibit called “Mermaid Dreams.” Lolly and Mike Anderson and Mary and Bill Price were hosts for the reception.

Mermaids are the focus of her art which is whimsical and full of tropical colors.

Wine and hors d’oeuvres were served on a table decorated with seashells and flowers.

Among the guests were  Lark and Mike O’Neil, Kirk Hammons, Gennie Johnson, Dee Ann Heaton, Nina and Dick Gaugler, Tina and Bruce Day, Kay Bishop, Laura Tribble, Dana Price, Betsy Hyde, Sody and Robert Clements, Sylvia Shirley, Jean and Walt Hendrickson, Amy and Roger Spring, Libby and David Denner, Nazette Zudhi, Susan and Dale Jordan, Elain and Greg Frogge and Ben Pickard.

Her paintings are at  the Pickard Gallery, the Mayo Clinic, Oklahoma Health Science Center and in private collections. She has painted murals in the Plaza district.  She is currently writing and illustrating a book for young adults.


New Barack Obama movie “By The People: The Election of Barack Obama” Premieres in Los Angeles

Amy Rice, Cindy Rice and Edward Norton were at the premiere movie of “By The People: The Election of Barack Obama.” (Photos provided).

Cindy and Hugh Rice are home from California after attending the world premiere of “By The People:The Election of Barack Obama” which was co-directed by their daughter Amy Rice and Alicia Sams and produced by Edward Norton.

They were among the 350 people hosted by HBO in the Billy Wilder Theater in the Hammer Museum in Beverly Hills, Ca. There will be other premieres in Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. The television premiere is set for Nov. 3 on HBO, the first anniversary of the President’s election.

The project was the brainchild of Rice. It began May 11, 2006, and concluded on June 28, 2009.

Nearly a year before Obama announced his candidacy for the presidency in 2007, filmmakers Amy Rice and Alicia Sams began to roll cameras on the  senator.

The film is a record of the Obama campaign to the White House. There are interviews and candid moments with wife Michelle Obama, the couple’s young daughters, Malia and Sasha, and senior campaign staff, volunteers, reporters, supporters and opponents.

Pam and Bill Shdeed honored Keegan Kelley and Nicholas Harroz III at a bridal party.

Among the guests were Treva Lee and Gerald Lindsey,  Cherry and Nick Harroz,  Pat and Roy Chandler, Ashley Little, Chris Papin, Leah Harroz, Meagan Homsey and Tina and Bruce Harroz.

Beautiful white hydrangeas decorated the tables. Party food included sugar cookies cut out in the shapes of a bride and groom and iced accordingly.

The couple was married August 15.


Bobbie Burbridge Lane surprised at birthday party

Bobbie Burbridge Lane was the honoree at a surprise Birthday party  recently in the Hunt Room of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

Lane’s daughter,  Dianne Beffort, and granddaughter, Molly Beffort, were hostesses.

Many of the 25 luncheon guests had been friends of the honoree since grade school days.  Among those attending were Gladys Tucker, Eunice Ellis, Lori Lane, Joyce McDonnold, Lisa Blair and Paula Stover.

The club’s special chocolate cake with peppermint ice cream was served.

Pink Gerber daisies and green hydrangeas were table centerpieces.
