Tri Delta members plan pansy sale

The Tri Delta Pansy Patch fund-raiser event is set for October 3, but Kim Mullins, Chairman, is taking orders for pansies now.

There are pansies with faces and solid colored pansies. Colors are yellow, white, purple, dark blue, multi-colored, red, red and yellow, white, azure blue, true blue, orange, purple and yellow and viola pastel mix.

Cost is $16. per flat.

The fundraiser is held yearly to benefit Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association (”OCCA”). The sale and pick up area is in the parking lot of Casady Square, located on the corner of Britton Road and Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City.

Members will provide delivery in the Oklahoma City area for $10.

WILD TUESDAY

Wild Tuesday Story Time Safari is a summertime program that is held Tuesdays in June and July at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Volunteers read a book to the children and lead an accompanying craft project.  Additionally, a Zoo docent attends the programs to present fun and interesting information about the animals.

The sessions are free, open to the general public and occur rain or shine

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA

Barbara Beeler celebrated her birthday at a party at Harry’s Bar at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

Hostesses were Candy Ainsworth, Janie Axton, Diana Beeler, Patty Cohenour, Kathy Griffin, Karlie Harmon, Susan Hoffman, Linda James, Linda Klos, Bette MacKellar, Marty Margo, Barbara Quillian and Linda Reece.

The invitation was a jewelry box with a strand of pearls with the party information.  It said: ” Put on your best dress…all your diamonds and pearls….it’s martinis at Harry’s for all of the girls.” Hostesses hand -delivered the invitations to the guests.

Dessert was cookies  were shaped like martini glasses, shoes and purses and they were given as party favors. On the tables were shopping boxes and sacks from Tiffany’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave. and other favorite stores of the honoree, filled with iris, Gerber daisies.

Kirk Hammons and  Emily Hammons,10,  were hostesses for a Meet and Greet party for Mary Jane Elizabeth Galt, 2, and her new baby sister, Margeaux Ellyn Galt, 2 months. The party was in Kirk Hammons’ home. Kirk is the babies’ grandmother and Emily is their cousin.

The monogrammed pink invitation was sent to friends who have known Hadley Hammons Galt for many years.  A green ivy wreath with a pink satin ribbon was on the front door and pink and green streamers hung from the chandelier. Pink peonies and pink roses were on the table. Cupcakes had tiny pink ribbon and flower icing.

Among the guests were Marilyn Balyeat, Susan Edwards, Susan Sigmon, Linda Ligon, Leslie Schwartz, Erin Gayer, Leslie Samara,  Sue Homsey, Lil Ross, Barbara Beeler, Sally Burpee, Pat Edwards, Cheryl Browne, Linda Garrett, Mary Ann Haskins, Sharon Bozalis, SoRelle Fitzgerald, Kay Oliver and Penny McCaleb.

DINNER AT THE MAXWELL

Paul Johnstone and Julie Kelly, both of Chicago, were honored at a party recently.

Entertaining for the engaged couple were Polly and Larry Nichols, Joan and Mac Maguire, Debbie and Ken McKinney, Charlotte and John Richels, Ann and Barry Gray, Kandy and Ron Norick and Pam and Bill Shdeed in the Maxwell Room of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.

On the tables were black and white tall vases with sunflowers, white orchids and red Gerber daisies. At the front door were large balloons in a basket with cutout photos of the bride and groom.

On the menu were Chicago hot dogs (with all the condiments, including tomatoes).

The wedding is in October.

GARDEN PARTY

Marilyn and Bill Hammon celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a garden party at Cobblestone Creek Golf Club in Norman.

Hosts were their four children and spouses: Shonna and Michael Glenn, Honolulu, HI.; Heidi and Billy Hammon, Ft. Collins, Colo.; Tamara and John Hammon, Tara and Stephen Hammon, Moore.

Guests were greeted at a porch side bar with raspberry lemonade champagne spritzers. There was a buffet spread including a mashed potato martini bar and chocolate dessert fountain. The anniversary cake had four layers (2 chocolate, 1 Italian cream and 1 strawberry).

Many of the women wore summer garden party hats.

The 150 guests at the party danced to the music of the Mystery Dates Band.

POOLSIDE WEDDING SHOWER

Hallie Henley and William Sims were honored at a wedding shower and dinner July 11.

Hosts were Janie and Greg Cook in their Oak Tree home. Co-hosts were the Cooks, Susie and Tommy Gray, Cyndi and Jim David, Gwen and Jack Volbrecht, Ann and Zane Fleming, Cathy and Mike Cross, Shelley and Kent Studebaker and Amy and Eddie Edwards.

They gave the engaged couple a monogrammed silver champagne cooler.
The centerpiece on the dining room table was a bouquet  of yellow lilies and blue hydrangeas.

The engaged couple will be married in January, 2010. Their parents are Marilyn and Jack Henley, Edmond, and Mary and Frank Sims, Shawnee.

CLASS OF 1964

Marca and Bob Floyd hosted a barbecue dinner  during the Northeast High School’s 45th class reunion. Bob Floyd was the senior class president.

At the Friday night party,  tables were set outside around the swimming pool and  were decorated with Viking mascot helmets and Viking ships. 107 people came from Oklahoma, Texas, California, New Jersey, Idaho and Florida.

The Floyds gave photo boxes to several of the committee members. The boxes were inscribed with “Friends are the family you choose.”

During the three days of activities, there was also a wine tasting party hosted by Vicki and Lalrry Toombs,  golfing, vintage car tour, Northeast Academy for Health Sciences and Engineering school tour, dinner and dance at Remington Park’s Eclipse Room

On the reunion committee were the Floyds, Vicki and Ron Hobson, Larry Toombs, Sue and Tony Scott, Donna and Tommy Jackson, Ray McLain, Sarah and Joe Merritt, Mickey Epperson, Paula Horabin, Debby and Jimmy Goodman.
