Kamala Gamble’s Community Sponsored Garden (CSG)   has tomato plants already in the ground and she plans to begin distributing baskets of vegetables in June.

Summer baskets will have potatoes, onions, tomatoes, peppers, squashes, eggplants,  okra and corn. The locally grown produce is grown in organic soil.

If you drive by Kamala’s home, you will see gardening at its’ finest.  Besides the vegetables, there are blooming flowers and trees. Kamala has a catering business too.

Donald M. Smith of Smith Cogeneration and Smith Algae Biofuels & BioFeeds in Oklahoma City, and Krissa K. (Van Pelt) Halter, originally from Mitchell, S.D., were married  in Colorado recently.

They were married near a silver mine site in the ghost town of Ashcroft, 10 miles from Aspen.  The wedding had a Victorian theme so Krissa wore stovepipe boots, Italian leather riding slacks, a ruffled shirt, and a black cowboy hat.  Her Italian goat suede riding jacket  featured a bustle. She wore crocodile leather boots.

The groom wore an 1880’s style, formal, wing-collared shirt with a string bow tie and a long black frock coat.

Rev. Luke Back of St Paul’s Cathedral in Oklahoma City officiated.

Guests were brought to the wedding site in a 20-person sleigh.  Don, his two sons, Michael and Brian, and his best man, Mike Young, rode their quarter horses to the wedding site from up the valley in two feet of snow.

Krissa, her mother Gertrude Van Pelt, her daughter Heather Van Pelt, and her bridesmaid, Holly Gomez, rode to the wedding site in a small sleigh pulled by Clydesdales.

After the ceremony, they rode by horseback through the snow to the Blue Mirror Saloon, a 130-year-old log structure in Ashcroft, for the reception. On the party menu was hot cider and champagne.

The couple have planned  a trip to Egypt to ride Arabian horses in the desert .  They will live at DuckSmith Farms in Logan County, Oklahoma, and at the Lazy O Ranch near Aspen, Colorado.
