HARDING’S ALUMNI SOCK HOP

AT THE HOP….Harding High School alumni from the class of 1958 celebrated the 50th reunion beginning with a sock hop upstairs at Crabtown Restaurant in Bricktown.

Balloons and 1950’s decorations added to the room where a jukebox blared. Reunion monogrammed socks, baseball caps and tee shirts featured the Harding mascot, the Eagle. There are 176 people at the reunion. Co-chairmen were Bill Townsend, Sarah Alice and Larry Blackledge, Sherry and Ike Bennett and Elizabeth Prosser.50th-1.jpg

MORE ACTIVITIES….Sarah and Larry Blackledge were hosts for a backyard dinner during the Harding High School Reunion, Class of 1958. Larry Blackledge put together a computer program of old photos. A class picture was taken. The group also toured Harding Charter School and met with Carole Kelly and Richard Carem and then had lunch at Johnnie’s.

PREVIEW PARTY….During the 2008 Prix de West 35th Invitational Art Exhibition, guests went to the Friday night Preview Party and Reception in the galleries of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. They viewed the 300- plus paintings and sculpture which was up for ballot bid the next night. Most of the 100 leading Western artists were at the party and they talked with the guests as they looked at their art.

COME FOR BRUNCH…. Joy Reed Belt and M. J. Van Deventer invited artists and writers attending the Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition to come by Belt’s art gallery, JRB Art At The Elms Gallery, for brunch before they left on Sunday. They set up tables in one of the art gallery rooms for the buffet breakfast that included Van Deventer’s famous dessert of rum cake.

SPECIAL BIRTHDAY… It was a special day for SoRelle Fitzgerald. Her family entertained at a beautiful 70th birthday luncheon in her honor at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Everyone brought birthday cards. Hosts were husband Don Fitzgerald, and children Kelly and Mike Brewer, Ginny and Jay Fitzgerald and Erin Fitzgerald and Eli Embree.

NEW HOMES….Ann Felton Gilliland and Bob Gilliland were hosts for a cocktail buffet party to celebrate the 2008 Home Builders Blitz project.

Builders and sponsors were honored. Six metro builders built homes for Habitat For Humanity in the new Hope Crossing neighborhood at NE 83rd and Kelley.

AFTER 50 YEARS…..In Maysville, Ok., 50 people attended the 50th high school class reunion. Dinner was at the Lumberyard Restaurant where owner David Benthin cooked a catfish buffet. School Superintendent William Martin welcomed the group.

GO TEAM…Oklahoma City alumni of Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., hosted the rowing crew from their alma mater at a barbecue dinner at Earl’s Rib Palace. The student team was in town for the American Collegiate rowing Association’s national championship regatta.

Nancy Bainbridge, Frank Bolen, Meg Koerner and Joyce Lundeen and Dan Trang planned the newly formed alumni group’s participation for the inaugural rowing event.
