There were life-sized posters of the Beatles and the stage backdrop was the Beatles’ logo. A four-tiered black, white and purple cake was served with sparklers instead of candles.

LET’S DO THE STROLL…Parents, teachers and students at Chisholm Elementary School had the first of what probably will be an annual event March 7. . They put on a Sock Hop.
The dance floor (in the cafeteria) was totally crowded during every song. One of the featured dances from the 1950’s was the “Stroll.” An Elvis Presley impersonator sang with the Oklahoma Christian University band to 1950’s music.
Hula hoops hung from the ceiling, along with streamers and records. The records were also stuck all over the walls. Strands of lights were in the hallways and black and white versions of two movies, “The Absent-Minded Professor” and “Shaggy Dog,” played throughout the evening.
Dinner was box lunches that parents had pre-ordered. Picnic tables were set up facing the big screen. The tables were wrapped in cardboard car cutouts, so that the room looked like a 1950 drive-in movie theater.
Principal Joann Graham oversaw all of the activities which included the drawings for prizes which featured lunch dates with teachers. Chisholm Elementary School is P-K through the 5th grade.
