HISTORIC AFFAIRUniversity of Oklahoma President David Boren was the honoree at several book signings and receptions this week. He has published a new book titled “A Letter to America.”

Boren, with his books (109 pages), was at the Oklahoma History Center, on the Norman campus and at Full Circle Book Store signing his name.

At the OHC, he signed for several hours and also gave a brief talk about his book and how he happened to write it. 300 people came to meet the author.

Proceeds from the book sale benefit the OU Sooner Heritage Scholarships Fund and the OU Press.

THE LOYALTY FACTOR….Members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity were at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club to celebrate Founder’s Day.

The national chapter of SAE began 152 years ago and the University of Oklahoma chapter celebrated its’ 99th anniversary.

At the dinner and dance were fraternity men and their wives and dates, all OU alumni or active members. “Psycho Diva and the Couch Doctors” played for dancing.

Craig Tucker is president of the board of trustees which gives $50,000 yearly in scholarships.

During the evening scholarships were announced. The Glen McLaughlin Scholarship for outstanding academics and leadership went to Brian Ray, Tulsa, and the Wise Scholarships for academic achievement went to Robert Stover, Ada, and Kevin Kyle, Edmond.

JOY OF COOKING…Third in the cooking series for Junior League sustainers was the class held in the home of Chris and Jidge Verity. Carol Taylor assisted the cooks.

Members learned to glaze crème brulee using a hand held torch. They also cooked chicken piccata.
