I love Oklahoma!
And I loved the Oklahoma Centennial Parade!!!!
The festive procession was all about Oklahoma…. from the tractors and the 4-H Club marchers …to the very sophisticated Oklahoma Miss Americas and the Oklahoma All- Star Centennial Band.
It was a “you’re doing fine, Oklahoma” afternoon for Lee Allan Smith, Blake Wade and all of the Parade planners, volunteers and sponsors.
The weather was perfect. During this spectacular parade, there were floats about Indians, cowboys, country singers, oil, agriculture, aviation, arts, education, music, sports, medicine and military.
There were marching bands. There were huge balloons, including a 100th birthday cake one. There were performing dancers, prancing horses. elegant llamas, our favorite painted buffalos from around town. There were also lots and lots of parade watchers for the two- hour event celebrating Oklahoma’s unique history.
Grand Marshals were Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson and actor James Garner. Governor Brad Henry and his family rode in the parade.
The teams of Clydesdale horses were in perfect form. Jason White, Billy Sims, Steve Owens, Bobby Murcer, Cat In The Hat, Curious Geoge and Big Red Dog Clifford made parade appearances.
