GOLDEN SPOTLIGHT…Joanne and Tom Hoch celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. Their children and grandchildren were hosts for the buffet dinner for 120 friends and family members.

In the host group were Liz London, Sandra and Tom Hoch, Mary and Tim Hoch, Rita and Will Hoch, Ian Wallace, Audrey, Joseph and Chris Hoch, Sophie, Hallie and Stephen Hoch and William Hoch IV.

A large framed photograph of the couple was at the front entryway and lots of other framed pictures of the invited guests were on a table in the foyer.

Family members and friends gave toasts during the party. Gold bowls held bouquets of pink and pearl-colored roses and white lilies. There was a large white-tiered anniversary cake and a chocolate -tiered cake.

Joanne Hoch wore a pale yellow sparkly dress with a white jacket. The couple was married in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Oklahoma City in 1959.

SPECIAL OCCASION…Club members of the MacDowell Club of Allied Arts celebrated the group’s 100th birthday at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club recently.<p/>

Vocalist Julie Davis-Ramsey gave the program “100 years of American Songs.” Leslie Downs accompanied her on the piano. Artist Cindy Mason provided an art exhibition. Daryl Beadles is president of the group.

The club members help to support an artists’ colony near Peterborough, NH. Established in 1907 by Mrs. Edward MacDowell, it is a place where artists in various fields work privately.

Writers have created poetry, novels, plays and film scripts at this place. There have been graphic artists, sculptors, set designers, textile artists and architects working there. The Oklahoma chapter has given 27 Oklahomans the opportunity to be at the Colony.

PRE-GAME MAGIC…When the annual President’s Associates Beat Texas Brunch was in progress at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, the University of Oklahoma President’s Wife Molly Shi Boren made a bold prediction. She thought the Sooners would win by a large margin. (And the game was so much fun, everyone felt like the team won by a huge number of points.)

Molly Shi Boren arrived at the party decked out in a red suit and white blouse matching all the red and white outfits that the 900 people at the party had on and the red and white balloons decorating the ballroom.

The Beat Texas party featured the OU cheer and pom squads and the OU Marching Band. Clarke Stroud introduced all the dignitaries and was the official master of ceremonies. He also introduced OU President David L. Boren who thanked the Associates’ members for their contributions to the University.

One of the nicest features of this particular party was that there were buses with police escorts to take party guests to the Fairground for the football game.

Among the avid OU supporters at the party were Lynn and Ron White, Bianca and Mason White, Paul Massad, Cathy Freede, Barbara and Bud Beeler, Joy and Gary Tucker, Judi Freyer, Ashley Houk, Dr. Paul Houk, Lyn and Ted Elam, Nancy and Dr. Bob Ellis, Kirk and Royce Hammons, Stacey Barry, Bette and Jim MacKellar, Susan Crutcher, Angie and Ford Sanger, SoRelle Fitzgerald, Tripp Hall and Carolyn and Don Zachritz.
