PARTIES EXTRA: SEPTEMBER 14, 2007–MISS AMERICA DROPS BY PARTY

THERE SHE IS…Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson dropped by the Nichols Hills home of Candy and Tom Dulaney last weekend. The Dulaneys were hosting his Phi Gamma Delta 50th pledge class reunion dinner on September 7th.
60 University of Oklahoma fraternity members and wives and dates were at the party where they all received retro tee shirts with class members’ names and nicknames on the back.
Hawaiian girls, reminders of the fraternity “FIJI Island Party” greeted the guests and handed out buttons which said “Fiji ’57, 50th reunion.”
Purple Passion punch, also reminiscent of the”Island Party” was served. The partygoers attended the OU-Miami football game the next day and went to the fraternity house afterwards. Sharon and Johnny Bozalis entertained at a barbeque that night.
BRING YOUR MALLET…. Tad Cassidy organized a group of Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club members to play croquet. There were games at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. September 9th.
Players wore their “whites” and either brought their own croquet mallets or borrowed them from Cassidy. Cassidy also lectured the group about different games and also how to hold the mallet correctly.
There was a tent for spectators and a bar set up. Candy and Chuck Ainsworth were among the organizers.
CELEBRATION…Lauren and Tyler Harris were honorees at a dinner on September 7th given by their parents, Anne and Mark Harris and Patty and Bill Held, in the Harris home. The couple lives in Houston. They were married in August in Beaver Creek, Colo.
Tables were set outside for a steak and chicken dinner and there was a three- layered wedding cake. Black and white checked plates held glass hurricane lanterns filled with red roses and yellow, pink and red Gerber daisies.

ARTWORK…A reception on September 7th at the JRB Art At The Elms Gallery honored Matt Seikel and Denise Duong for their art show. The show is part of the monthly Paseo Gallery Walk and will be in place until September 29.
Champagne and hors d’oeuvres were on the menu and flowers around the gallery were bouquets of bird of paradise and anthuriums which complemented the colorful and lively works of art.
Seikel is a ceramic artist and Duong paints his works as well as does her own paintings. She mixes acrylic, tissue paper and fabric collages in the backgrounds.
RECEPTION….Drs. Martha and William Pennington were honorees at an Oklahoma City reception in August. Rita and Paul Matthews were hosts and Cathy and Jim Waldo were co-hosts.
The couple was married July 7 in Tishomingo at a small family service. There was a reception that day for community members in the down town park served by the ladies of the Johnston County Historical Society who dressed in turn- of- the -century outfits.
William Pennington, Paul Matthews and Jim Waldo were on the Oklahoma State Historical Society board of directors together and Pennington is president of Murray State College in Tishomingo.
