AT LUNCH… Among the parties for Paige Edwards who married Michael Frenzel last weekend was the bridesmaid’s luncheon which was held at Nonna’s in Bricktown. The bride’s aunts, Amy Edwards and Eve Patterson, were hostesses.
PAIGE’S PARTIES… Claire Anderson, Penny McCaleb, Pat Northwood and Sara Northwood were hostesses for another party honoring Paige Edwards. It was in the home of the bride’s parents, Susan and Carl Edwards, and was a Sip and See party.
Guests viewed the wedding gifts and the hostesses gave the honoree an antique cache pot filled dahlias, impatiens, caladiums and ivy.

BARBECUE AT THE FARM…Jennifer Edge and Patrick Quillian were honored at a barbecue dinner at the Swisher Farm. Hosts were Shelley and Bill Swisher, Kathryn Swisher, Drs. Salima and Iftikhar Ahmad, Naureen Ahmad, Samina and Dr. Zaheer Baber, Omar Baber, Elizabeth Meade, Marilyn and Bud Meade and Karen Watson.
SHOWERING SHEA…Shea Weir was the honoree at a bridal shower and luncheon in the home of Carol Fisher. Co-hostess was Carol Taylor.
Weir and Sean Nevin will be married in Aspen, Colorado, on September 15th.
50 YEARS…The 1957 Northwest Classen High School reunion
featured a weekend of activities. 280 people came for the events.
On June 22nd, classmates played in a golf tournament at Rose Creek Golf Course. That night they were at the Waterford Hotel for registration and a cocktail party. The next night was a buffet dinner, music and dancing in the Lobby of the Chase Bank Building.
Reunion co-chairmen were Ramona Ware and Eddie Bodenheimer.

SHE’S BEAUTIFUL…A Sip and See party was given for Lisa Shinn and her new baby girl, Avery Elizabeth Shinn, two months. Hostesses were grandmother DeDe Benham and Lisa’s friend Laura Ihrig.
The baby wore a white linen dress with a crochet bodice and tiny pink roses which was a special baby gift from Dede and Bob Benham’s friends, Rita and Burt Tansky, Dallas. (He is CEO of Neiman Marcus.) The baby also wore pink satin ballet slippers.
She has two brothers, Teddy, 5, and Everett, 3.

LOVELY PARTY…Judy Love was the honoree at a birthday party at Michael’s Grill. Hostesses were Sherry Beasley, Barbara Brou, Gennie Johnson, Susan Johnston, Ruth Lampton, Brenda McDaniel, Cindy Rice and Sylvia Slater.
Party favors were red beads with hearts and there was also a heart-shaped birthday cake with “Love” written in icing. A heart-shaped ice sculpture with the word “Love” decorated the food table. The honoree wore a special birthday tiara.
Guests included Susan Sigmon, Jo Carol Cameron, Sharon Bozalis, Dede Benham, Nancy Ellis, Becky Love, Malia Love, Laura Cameron, Jenny Love Meyer, Alice Jay, Polly Nichols and Jane Harlow.
HIGH TEA…A pink teapot invitation invited guests to a High Tea and Holiday Recipe Shower in the home of Elaine Levy. The party honored Ashley Bendorf who is marrying Jeff Skibell, Dallas, in August.
Co-hostesses were Barby Sidon, Yvette, Taylor and Megan Trachtenberg, Alyson, Katie, Becca and Lexi Ray, Ailda Flack, Hilary and Haley Karchmer, Mollie Hirsch and Sherry Bennett.
The hostesses gave the honoree a special vase filled with flowers and the recipe for a “Happy Marriage.”

ALL ABOUT BLAKE…Family members and friends celebrated the graduation of Blake Dahlgren with a party. Parents Karen and Roger Dahlgren hosted the get-together in their home. The Deer Creek High School graduate will attend the University of Oklahoma in the fall.
The party theme “All About Blake” featured framed pictures, awards and a DVS slide show. There was an OU crimson and cream caked topped with a picture of Blake.

AFTERNOON TEA…It was teatime at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club last weekend. Maxey Reynolds entertained for her granddaughter Katie Hoge who is one of this year’s Beaux Arts Ball debutantes.
Ball committee members, debutantes, family members and special guests, six of the former Beaux Arts Ball queens, filled the downstairs area of the Club. Peonies decorated the tea table that was filled with tiny sandwiches and brownies, cookies and lemon squares.
A table with framed photographs of the former Ball queens lined one wall. Represented in pictures were Joan Johnston, Yinger, Virginia Eason Weinmann, Jean Monnet Laughlin, Virginia Harmon Gohrband, Betty Jean Tway, Margaret Maxey Cooper Reynolds, Ethelyn Mills, Sydney Shaffer Taggart, Ann Sheridan Watson, Judith Ames Rhoads, Mary Gordon Ferguson Taft and Ann Connolly Henry, Adelaide Lutz Ladd and Maichai Thach Brown.
These days the traditional event features a Beaux Arts Ball King, one of Oklahoma City’s community leaders. The queen selection was discontinued in the early 1960’s. Elain Frogge is chairman of the 2007 Ball and Libby Denner is co-chairman.

STANDING OVATION…Linda Kennedy Rosser was the honoree at a party given by Brenda McDaniel and Pam Shdeed. She received her master’s degree from Oklahoma City University.
The party was in the McDaniel home which is on the OCU campus (Brenda’s husband, Tom, is OCU President.)
Rosser received her undergraduate degree at the University of Oklahoma more than 40 years ago and had always planned to work on her master’s degree. She is a trustee of OCU and her good friend, Brenda McDaniel, encouraged her to go back to school, so two years ago, she did.
MARRY MAKING…Lucinda and David Huffman were hosts for a dinner party honoring Emily Huffman and Paul Kelly. Guests were family members and friends who came from out-of-town for the couple’s June 9th wedding.
THE BOOK…. Several book-signing parties have honored Kon Keesee and Ann Taylor. They have just completed a wonderful coffee table book and history of Nichols Hills. The book called “Nichols Hills, a residential community,” features the lovely homes of the area.
One of the parties was in the home of Joan and Bill Payne. Co-hosts were Gene and Ed Barth, Annie and Dick Bohanon, Ann and Bob Hoover, Becky and Greg Love and Mary and Mike Mahaffey. The Payne dining room featured stacks of books and the authors were happy to sign them.
AT THE GALLERY…Joy Reed Belt and MJ Van Deventer were hostesses for brunch at the JRB Art At The Elms Gallery.
They invited exhibiting artists and newspaper and magazine writers who attended the Prix De West festivities at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Bouquets of sunflowers in unique Matt Seikel-Denise Duong ceramic vases decorated the tables.
BEFORE THE WEDDING…Engaged couple Dini Massad and Sam Homsey were honored at a rehearsal dinner at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club prior to their wedding.
Hosts were Sydney and Mickey Homsey.
IN THE PINK…Hadley Galt was in town for a baby shower and luncheon in the home of Judy Love. Co-hostesses were Gene Barth, DeDe Benham, Nancy Ellis, Nancy Herzel, Ann Hoover, Gennie Johnson, Ruth Lampton and Brenda McDaniel.
Hadley and husband Travis Galt are expecting a baby girl. Pink roses, baby’s breath, pink ribbons and pearls decorated the tables. Hostesses gave the honoree an antique cabinet.

Friday…at The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Prix de West Art Exhibition

The Prix de West reception and preview party on Friday night, June 8, at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum was a sold-out event. There were 1200 people there and all of them were examining and enjoying the artwork which will be sold by ballot drawing on Saturday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m.
There was more art on display than ever before. And actually, the entire event, including tonight’s Prix de West Invitational Awards Banquet, features a larger crowd than in years past. There were 1100 reservations at last count.
Friday, June 8, the seminar speakers at the Sam Noble Special Event Center were David Wade, Dr. Steven Grafe, Seth Hopkins, Wilson Hurley, Seth Hopkins and Charles P. Schroeder.

PARTIES EXTRA: June 9, 2007-FORMER PRESIDENTS CONVENE
PRESIDENTIAL UPDATE…. Katie James was chairman of the annual Junior League’s Past President’s Luncheon. It was at the JL Headquarters and 18 former presidents attended.
Presidents Betsy Mantor and Karla Wallace talked about current projects and the 80th anniversary celebration activities. Incoming President-Elect Laura Ogle was introduced.
BOOK IT…. One of Integris Baptist Medical Center’s volunteers, Pete Kallenberger, was instrumental in setting up the Pete Kallenberger Lending Library in the Medical Center’s hallway near the first floor elevators’ lobby.
As a volunteer, he delivered books and magazines to patients and the closet where he kept them became so full that it was time for expansion.
There was a grand opening, ribbon cutting ceremony and reception recently and guests and family members had the first look at the space for current books and magazines for patients and visitors. The area also features Internet access. Volunteer services director Daisy McNeill was in charge of the festivities.

Leigh Hefner, Mark Smith, Elizabeth Farabee, Stuart McLain and Trey Healey enjoy the send-off party for Farabee who is moving to Paris, France.
Ann Alspaugh entertained for granddaughter Elizabeth Farabee at dinner at The Coach House. The invitation stated that the party was for her birthday, graduation, and new job in Paris.
Farabee was graduated on May 19 from Georgetown University and will be working for an online magazine in Paris. She leaves Oklahoma City on June 11.
Balloons decorated the ceiling of The Coach House and beautiful pink flowers in black and white vases were on the tables. The hostess served a French dinner with an escargot appetizer. Grand Marnier Soufflé was served for dessert.

Eileen Price and Josh Everett were married June 2 at Chirst the King Catholic Church. The reception was at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club and friends and family members of the couple celebrated the event. Parents of the couple are Mary and Bill Price and Dian and Dr.Royice Everett.
Anne Price was the maid of honor and Keith Cockrum was best man. Bridesmaids were Ashley Anderson, Kylie Beal, Holly Cockrum, Lizanne Garrett, Leslie Kearns and Elizabeth Taylor. Groomsmen were Jess Book, Alan Carter, Christian Kanady, Zak Knutson, Braden Metcalf and James Price.
Readers were Heather Everett and Lacey Horn. In the house party were Jessica Bracken, Ashley Goodwin and Heidi Prather.
PARTIES EXTRA: MAY 28TH, 2007- TRAVELING IN NEW MEXICO

Field of flags in New Mexico
MEMORIAL DAY 2007….One rural mountain town, Questa, New Mexico, (population 2500) celebrated the Memorial Day Holiday with thousands of flags.
They set the large flags up in a field next to the highway and called it the “Healing Field of Honor.”
This United States flag memorial honored America’s Veterans. All of the U.S. wars were remembered by listing the numbers of soldiers killed or missing in action. This was the third year for the flags which were also placed throughout the town. An outdoor program was held on May 28th.
