Grafton gave a informative and interesting talk about her books, her life and book characters. The dinner menu featured mystery items such as “a conspiracy of greens, with pear, walnut, and blue cheese clues, cloaked in a vinaigrette deception” and “tenderloin steak-out, investigated with a suspicious beurre blanc cover-up, stalked with fresh asparagus, and roasted potato shrapnel.”
Burns Hargis was master of ceremonies and he also asked the 400 people in the audience a few mystery questions about Grafton’s books.
Sarah Hogan presented the 2007 Lee B. Brawner Lifetime Achievement Award to the late John W. Rex. His wife, Berta Faye Rex, accepted the award in his honor.
