DINING OUT

600 people attended the annual Tinker Community Dining Out event with Tinker Air Force Base and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber at the Cox Convention Center on March 30.
David Thompson, publisher of The Oklahoman, was given the title president of the mess meaning that he directed the evening’s activities. Guest speaker was Lt. Gen. Roger Brady, Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower and Personnel.
Dining Out is a dinner where ceremony and tradition are observed and the president of the mess is from the Chamber of Commerce. Robert Conner, director of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, presented the OCCC with The Commander’s Public Service Award.

ENCHANTED EVENING Jose Freede celebrated her 80th birthday with family members and friends at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country on April 1.
Guests, mostly lifelong friends, gave champagne toasts to the very special woman who came to America from England when she married the late Dr. Henry Freede.

Among those making toasts were daughter Cathy Freede, Bill Shdeed, Lee Allan Smith, Christy Everest, Barbara Beeler, Jim Vallion, Dr. Ron White, Judge Ralph Thompson, Paul Dudman, Byron Gambulos, Kathy Fee Droemer. Dr. Jim Hartsuck and Dick Sias.
Other guests included daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Judge Dan Owens, Jim Everest, Tricia Everest, Louise and Clay Bennett, Mary and Colin FitzSimons, Maggie Barrett, Lou Phillips, Pat Gambulos, Joan Gilmore, Al McLaughlin, Barbara Thompson, Mary Kay and Paul Massad, Lynn White, Anne and Dr. Ed Dalton, Pam Shdeed, Bud Beeler, Barbara Thompson, Debby Dudman, Jean Hartsuck, Jeannette Sias and Donna and Dr. Tom Vogel.

THE LOYALTY FACTOR It was a very special night on March 28 when University of Oklahoma outgoing Board of Regent’s Chairman, Paul D. Austin and his beautiful wife, Jane, were honored at a reception and dinner at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. He has been a regent for seven years.
Various campus presidents, heads of departments and OU President David L. Boren gave Regent Austin gifts and talked about their association with him. Boren noted that “ A Regent Is Forever.”

A GREAT COUPLE Jillian Cousin and Rob Arnold were honorees at a couple’s shower and dinner March 31 in the home of Sue Ann and Dudley Hyde. Co-hosts were Judy and George McDowell, Marcia and John Powell, Dawn Davis, Gail and Bill Beals, Linda and Bob Bowles, Chris and Dr. Paul Houk, Judie and David Steelman and Sandy and Eddie Shapard.
The engaged couple will be married in May in Napa Valley, Calif.
TAKE A BOW When members of the Oklahoma City chapter of Phi Beta Kappa met March 29 for the annual banquet at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, they honored Dr. Joseph Ruffin as Phi Beta Kappa of the Year.
University of Oklahoma President David L. Boren was the featured speaker.
PBK President Kay Musser presided and Elizabeth Prosser was banquet chairman.
The three high school seniors who received scholarships from the group were Ying Wang, Chris Trulock and Natalie Griffin. On that committee were Dr. Gene Muse, Emily Pomeroy and Jeb Joseph.
